Just made a garage sale deal on what I think may be a vintage boxed set of Case steak knives. Blade reads Case XX m254, Miracle Edge, process pat. no. 2147079. Appear to be unused. No sign of being sharpened. Knives are full tanged, wood handled with finger grooves on left side only, 4-9/16" blade, 8-5/16" overall length point end is rounded. Case is leatheret bound box withe Case label on lower right side of lid. Inside is green felt material. Inside of lid is a silky material with label "by Case XX"embossed in center. Lookin to see if my $25 deal was a decent investment. Any idea when these knives were made, and maybe a potential value? Thanks in advance, Bill

This looks like what you describe: https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com...-knife-set-nib Abt $100
Looks like someone is selling a set through Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/Case-Steak-Kn.../dp/B006WM99DY, abt $300 Another set, https://www.americanedgeknives.com/c...knife-set-824/, for ~$130 ETA this may be the patent noted, from 1938 (now expired) https://patents.google.com/patent/US2147079A/en - no, that number should be in 1939, though the content seems relevant. Ah - filed 1938, issued 1939. Last edited by Librarian; 08-19-2019 at 11:29 AM.. |
