Making Grappa
We sell all our grapes and they usually don't crush on site at my place. They crushed at my location this year. We are fermenting the crushed grapes and making Grappa.
I hope to get about 70 to 80 proof out of the mix. It sure smells good. I don't drink alcohol nor does the family, can't sell it, but I just wanted to try my luck making the stuff. I told I can distill it more and use it for fuel. It is pretty easy to make a really efficient still. Looks like we will get 6 barrels worth or 360 gallons. Storing it in used wine barrels I was given. |

Yeah I looked into making Grappa. I could get the poultice for free from my son the Vineyard Manager but by the time I go through all the effort of fermenting a couple of 30 gal drums then distill it off it was cheaper for me just to buy the Grappa.
Funny how it's the same for my Bismuth Shotgun shells for pheasant every year. Until I decide to do a lot of trap shooting (with lead) it's not worth it for me to buy the good reloading press.
