Default An old SB23 registration form

Found a spare. This is what we mailed in to DOJ in 2000, 18 years ago.

I mailed mine right before the deadline, and I still had to walk the local cops through the fingerprint part. They had never seen the form.

Gotta wonder what the compliance rate was.

Just like the CA doj emblem says....liberty and justice under law (under california law which really doesn't take the constitution seriously)

Ha, I took mine to Lakewood Sheriff for the thumb print portion and they also to just do it at home. Crazy how even way back then, my barely-of-age self thought how intrusive that process was. Now look at today.....

I don't have any of those forms, but I do still have my registration for the two AR's I figured that I may be seen in public with. I keep it in a drawer as one more reminder of why I now live in Texas. As a conversation piece, it is always good for a belly laugh here.

Back when I still had my FFL in Kali, a customer of mine was moving (not out of Kali). He had also used the above form to register, and now wanted to update his new address with DOJ. I tried to convince him that he had done his part, but he was determined. He contacted DOJ and they said they could not find his registration. I think that's where it ended as I never heard anything further.

I bet in the next registration period when CA Legislature bans featureless and Newsom signs that into law the new registration process will involve actually taking the guns to LEOs to be "confirmed legal". It'll make the recent registration process that required the four photos look like peanuts.

Probably so.
It will also make it easier to arrest the ones with the illegally configured guns.

Win-win for them; you bring in the guns they confiscate and arrest you for at the same time all on your dime. Then they probably bill you for the towing charge for the car you used to go to the PD station with.

I mailed mine into DOJ around Christmas time, very close to the deadline, almost missed it. A few years later I notified DOJ in writting that I sold three of them and they reissued my permit in 2004.

Filled the Assault Weapon registration form out, did my own thumb print at home, mailed it, and a few weeks later, got a letter from DOJ confirming my registration. It was so simple back then.

When I take my RAWs to the range, I carry a copy of the registration letter with the rifles.
