Default Your Lease Will Not Be Renewed Without Proof Of Vaccination

Florida landlord requiring proof of vaccinations from tenants

Quote:
...As of Aug. 15, Santiago Alvarez, who owns eight apartment buildings in Broward and Miami-Dade counties, will mandate that tenants prove they have received at least an initial COVID-19 vaccination before renewing their lease, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

“You don’t want to get vaccinated? You have to move,” 80-year-old Alvarez told The Washington Post. “And if you don’t move, one must move forward with eviction.”

Alvarez has said he would make exceptions for people who choose not to get vaccinated for religious or medical reasons. He also said he would allow more time for long-term tenants to get their first dose of the vaccine, according to the Post...

At least one tenant, 28-year-old Jasmine Irby, has filed a complaint with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Irby argued that she should be able to renew her lease “without having to disclose my personal health information,” the Post reported...

However, the landlord believes his policy is not in violation of the governor's order as that order is intended for "customers or patrons" and not for tenants, Alvarez's lawyer told the Post.

"The law is very clear. He cannot require vaccine passports as a condition of entry. Each violation of the law will result in a $5000 fine," DeSantis's press secretary Christina Pushaw said in an email to The Hill.

Pushaw added that COVID-19 transmissions still occur among vaccinated people...

Why would a landlord do this? Is he getting an incentive? Doesn't make business sense.

Exactly.

What they are saying isn't what they mean, whether they realize it or not.

Their actual argument has to do with the potential severity of the disease once infected, not transmission of the virus or protection from the disease insofar as 'immunity' from infection. Thus, protecting the vaccinated from the unvaccinated is misleading in that such is (or is supposed to be) the actual role of the vaccine itself and, ostensibly, doesn't have anything to do with the unvaccinated. It's why even some pro-vaccine health experts have been cringing at such messaging.

Too bad we can't declare libtardism a very transmissable, dangerous disease and relegate them to 3rd class citizenship.

There is no racial discrimination here. Vaccinated or non vaccinated people aren’t covered under the discrimination laws. There is no protection for fax or non fax people. It’s like saying smoker or non smoker.

Personally ….I don’t care. We have rentals. It’s not my job to force or protect tenants from getting or not getting vaccinated.

What benefit does he have in making this a condition for leasing? other than attemping to push his political views on others, what's his point?

This exactly.

Corporations and landlords are not allowed to discriminate against race, color, sex, sexual orientation so why should this vaccine be any different when the tenants are overall in good standing?

A vaccinated tenant can still get covid and not pay rent. Said tenant can also still catch and spread covid, this person will not be immune just because they are vaccinated.

We just gave my landlord notice (we bought a house).

She chose to inform us that she would only rent to a vaccinated tenant in the future.

Heck. You can post a “no negroes need apply” clause in the ad too if you want…has nothing to do with me…oh tolerant leftie.

Everyone in that guy's buildings needs to drag him through a lengthy eviction process, and finally leave the place trashed. Just an idea.

Florida will deny him. In the works!

They CANNOT do this. NOT their house, his rules in this case.

make sure you let her know you and your family were unvaxxed and possibly had covid at least once so she spends a fortune trying to sterilize the place.

Well, at least the landlord is suggesting a certain... flexibility... in his demands (cough, choke, gasp)...

Quote:
...He said he is willing to be flexible with tenants who don't want to provide proof of vaccination, but also don't have anywhere to go. He will consider a lease extension on a month-to-month basis with higher rent.

"I don't want to put them on the streets, but I don't want them to be a danger to my tenants, or to my employees," Alvarez said...
I see. So they won't be a 'danger' so long as they pay higher rent. Got it.

Insofar as what's in the works, this article is dated the 15th. As of the 16th...

Quote:
...DeSantis' press secretary, Christina Pushaw, noted that the Florida Department of Health's rule enforcing a ban on vaccine passports takes effect Thursday.

"Under Florida law, people cannot be required to show vaccine passports as a condition of entry or service," she said.

There is a $5,000 fine for each violation...
It's gonna be an interesting test case.

Why? As I understand it in Texas its just about impossible to get squatters out and it will take a year minimum. I wonder if Florida is the same. Yeah yeah property rights and all that but as we are learning the hard way, the left doesn't play by honorable rules. So, whats good for the goose.... Make them suffer as they try to make us suffer. Punish them back. F em
