I think it happened the first time in my life.
At least I do not remember another time when I did not make even one shot.

Two more boats in the area reported the same results.

I didn't go out over the weekend because I had a reservation tomorrow. When I made it, it was supposed to rain. Now it's downgraded to partly cloudy but if it's anything like today it's looking more like a no-cloud, no wind, all sun day.

I should go hand wash some cars to maybe bring about some weather.

The neighbor kid just hand washed his car so I am hoping that works. Then again, he’s a high school kid and he washes it 3 times a week. I remember those days.

Today was a great day. Spend time with great friend and limit by 9:30.

Widgeon and Sprig will be dinners. Spoons will be sausage.

Blind leading the blind today with me taking my buddy on his first duck hunt. We got a greenwing and a cinnamon and two spoons. Missed a bunch of birds but had a great day. The dog got to bring in his first ducks - after the first one he figured it out and was all over the rest.

1 Spoony, 1 Pintail, 1 Wigeon, 1 GWT and 4 Scaup for 3 guns in the Suisun Marsh. Last storm moved most of the birds out. Hopefully, they will show up in Los Banos.

Robbins, CA Foggy early with wind from the East

No activity until 10 AM new birds in the area, big flights of teal, Sprig, and Wigeon. 15 ducks and 2 Snow Geese for 3 guns. We should have had 3 limits, for example I missed my Sprig 3 times with 3 shots....

30 ducks and 6 geese for my blind in 2021. If only we had more than 1 or 2 guys using it consistently.

My blind is at 49 birds now since January 1st IIRC. Shot my dads club today and we were done right at 830am. I fear it's going to go cold with the highs of 65 coming this week.

Just spoke with my friend from KY.
He says he did not hunt this season and will not going to duck hunt anymore because last year (2019) in his "only" 60days season he killed only 200 greenheads.

So you guys, be happy.

Not too bad today. If i was not missing wide sides of the barn, i'd be out with the limit by 8AM.
The final count: 2 canvasbacks, 2 wigeons, 1 GWT, and 2 bluebills by 10AM

Sorry man, they are already breasted and the rest is in the garbage,
It is a pretty common bird here, hence no pictures. Next time for sure. If you are local, I can give you a whole bird.

Saturday was slow at ole San Jacinto, only had 2 opportunities and connected one for a nice looking Gadwall Drake, missed an easy Cinnamon that laughed at my incompetence. Could have blasted a few Ruddy swimming in the decoys but let them live. Hope to get out at least once more.

Tulare basin this morning. 2 GWT and 2 spoonies. At least a thousand pintails in groups of 10-200 worked the area, but never finished. Good thing we have a 1 bird limit on such a scare bird.

Santa Clara Co public lands (waters actually)
Open 7 days a week, no shell count restrictions (very important for a shooter like myself).

BTW, in my post #84 there is a pix of my other can.

21 Sandhills and 9 mallards for 7 hunters in Colorado city Texas,2 pigs while shooting teal and gaddys in Haskell and night vision pigs in ranger .. good fun

Saturday we only shot 2 ducks. In yesterday's north wind sadly we only got 2 geese. The birds have left the area.

We only got one coot yesterday. I hid it around the yard and then cooked up the breasts and thighs for the dogs. Still worth going out.

Monday was great. Friend and I got limits of good birds. Greenhead, pintail, teal, widgeon, and gadwall. Dog did a great job too. Fun day.
