Renewal Timeline for Solano County:
Submitted proof of training and other documentation 3/12/2023
Pick up Renewal CCW: 5/24/2023

So roughly about 10 weeks from time of submitting the needed documents and receiving it.

Is your new CCW still the old laminated big piece of paper or was it more credit card size?

Credit card size that you must carry on you at all times when carrying. You also receive a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper that is embossed. That paper they want you to keep in your gun safe or where ever you keep important documents.

Solano renewal paperwork submitted on 2/26/23

Go ahead on pick up received on 5/17/23.

It is now a credit card license sized card. You get an 8.5 by 11 paper to keep in your safe. They did say eventually they will let people with existing licenses come in to get the new card, but they did not have an exact date and are running behind on the current licenses.

I just completed my renewal application and noticed that it no longer has a space for listing your reason for wanting a CCW.

The ID card given is much nicer than the previously issued laminate, and pick up was busy. All in all, about 7.5 months wait time here. Nice to reach the finish line though.

Do they take a picture on the day of pickup or pull one from the DMV?

Madstyle is right. They definitely get you on wait and cost here in Solano. Atleast once its issued you got another 18 months before you have to renew (24 months if you dont count processing times).

Website says renewals will not be accepted no earlier than 60 days from their expiration date.. has anyone submitted it earlier? By the timeline others posted it seems like it take more than 60 days to get the renewal..

Submit your renewal application packets at least 60 days prior to current permit expiration date, however you can submit your renewal application 6 months before its expiration date.

Yes, I have turned them in earlier than 60 days without a problem. We were advised during the class to turn them in ASAP because of the backlog and upcoming classes.

I followed that guidance and my renewal was completed end of June with my original expiration date being August.

I know grip tape is fine on a Glock in Solano. Does anyone know about stippling or undercutting a Glock CCW ?

They don’t allow modification’s that deviate from manufacturer specs. A Short Reset Trigger from Sig on an Sig is ok. A Cajun Gun Works Short Reset on a CZ is not. If CZ made it that would be fine.

Since Glock Gen 3 doesn’t have an undercut , it’s a deviation from spec.

Post Solano CCW Process

Any one got any updates for the Solano CCW process lately? I'm a Benicia resident. Applied 08/20/23. Scheduled for interview October 24th. I'll update as my process goes along.
Want to know if there is a new sheriff running the interview, or is it still Joe Pinder? Is personal safety still a valid reason to use?
Also, can I only carry in Solano if approved, or can I move through counties with my firearm?
Any and all information/chat welcomed, thanks!

Everything is still being done by Dept. Pinder. Interview is an easy process, you don't need good cause to carry anymore. So yes if asked, personally safety is a good enough reason. Once you receive your license you can carry in any county in California.

@Nick I got you my guy..

Applied 4/6/23
Interview 6/1/23
Approval for training 8/28/23
8 Hour Training done 9/17/23
Uploaded certificate 9/19/23
Permit pick up 9/27/23

$130 Application Fee
$210 New CCW 8 Hour Training
$143 Final Payment Fee
Total $483

Interview was yes/no answers. Listen carefully because he says you must be able to follow directions so I can trust you with a CCW. Something like that. Whole interview was 15 mins tops including the fingerprint and live scan. You will take a picture after the live scan but the picture that was used for my card was taken the day I picked up the permit. The waiting after the interview will make you think you did a crime you didn?t know about but it?s just a lot of applicants in solano county.

I would also continue to check the permitium site because my classmate said he never got an email. He checked the sight and it stated he was good train.

Good luck!!

Anyone gotten their renewal lately? Submitted my renewal stuff over 60 days ago and still no dice. This is my 5th renewal, I don't think any other time took more than a month. Pinder must be slammed.
