Default Visiting California with off roster pistols.

Recently moved to Nevada. Still have friends and family in California we will visit occasionally. Planning on buying some off roster pistols with threaded barrels and 17 round mags. Could I legally bring them with me when I visit California ? Also would probably be bringing a few hundred rounds of ammo.
Thanks

No threaded barrels or large cap mags from out of state. Bring ammo since you cannot buy here.

... but the off-Roster guns, themselves, are no problem.

Short answer:

Not legal to bring a semi-auto pistol that do not have a fixed magazine and has a threaded barrel to CA. [PC 30600(a)]

Not legal to bring large capacity (11+ rounds) magazines to CA. [PC 32310(a)]

Long answer:

It is legal for a non-resident of CA to bring CA legal firearms to CA for personal use.

It is not legal for anyone to bring CA illegal firearms to CA or to possess CA illegal firearms in CA. [PC 18730, 30600(a), 30605(a), 32625(a), 33215, and 33410]
^If the semi-auto pistol does not have a threaded barrel and has a threaded barrel, then it is considered an assault weapon in CA. [PC 30515(a)(4)(A)]
~If the handgun can discharge shotgun shells, then it is considered a SBS in CA. [PC 17180(a),(b)]

It is not legal for a non-exempt person to bring large capacity magazines or large capacity magazine parts kits to CA. [PC 32310(a) and 32311(a)]

It is legal for a non-resident of CA to bring non-prohibited ammo to CA for personal use.
^Prohibited ammo = explosive, incendiary, tracer, flechette, handgun AP.

Therefore...

As long as the off-Roster handguns are CA legal, then it is legal to bring and possess them in CA.

It is not legal to bring handguns that are considered prohibited weapons (assault weapons, SBR, SBS) to CA and it is not legal to bring large capacity (11+ round) magazines to CA.

It is legal to bring non-prohibited ammo to CA for personal use.
