Ok, got a Wheeler torque wrench and sandbags. Torqued action and scope. Verified scope is level. Barrel is clean. Planning on going Monday with the wife, and will rent a lead sled. She'll watch for flinching.

Ok, I saw the image you uploaded. 2.2 vs 2.6. I wouldn’t worry about it. Barely over 10% change, it’s all in the noise of you. Just shoot and enjoy. I thought you were like a factor of 3 between 223 and 308. IMO you are GTG. You are just showing us real groups. Most calgunners get one lucky 3 round group then post up and down like it’s their every day. IMO there is no problem here between 223 and 308

I doubt flinching, but you can check yourself. Dry fire one round after a full mag (5 shots?). You’ll know within 20 rounds if you flinch or not.

My variance in my BFR 460 is quite large and it shoot great at 100 yards. I agree completely.

Is it a new rifle? The groups will tighten up after 100 rounds.

stop gripping the gun so hard, relax sit at home and dry fire it like 2k times. work on form, make sure you are pulling the trigger with the pad of your finger tip. DO NOT USE THE JOINT. relax your grip! did i mention relax your grip?

recoil will expose your form flaws, try some reduced recoil rounds and like magic your groups will get better. my old man was having a hard time with a M77 that shot good in my hands. Got him some girl ammo and he went from 12" groups to 3" good to go for a hunting gun up close.

Ok, so all the advice made a huge difference! Thanks to all involved! I started with the Lead Sled, and then moved to sandbags at the end. The last shots were with sandbags.

The ‘last shots’ (2-groups) look good. If that’s the ammo you’re going to stick with, I’d bring them down about 3/4” or 3-clicks on the dial.

Get proficient with the irons first and then switch to the glass.
