SoCal Monthly C&R Shoot at WEGC - Sunday February 10th

The next monthly C&R shoot is coming up on Sunday, February 10th

Everyone is welcome!

The range is private, but we usually have enough members to take new people as guests. If you are thinking of going and are not a member, please post here, we'll try to make sure we can get you signed in (cost for guests is $10 for the whole day)

How about a friendly axis vs allies rifle competition again? Everyone gets 5 shots at a steel target at 100 yards, 2 from the bench, 2 standing, 1 kneeling, with a 30 second time limit. What do you guys think?

Lower range, we'll be on the benches towards the end, a lot of us get there by 8:00am. Stop by any bench with an old rifle on it and ask about the shoot, we'll get you introduced to the regulars

Damn... I’ve got to get in on these, now that I’m back in So Cal! I’ve got many of the countries represented... US, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Russia, and Finland.

Unfortunately I’ll be traveling that Sunday. Hopefully I can start meeting up in April - I didn’t realize that WEGC was close until my friend/neighbor was talking about it just this past week.

Looking at what happened to the creek this past Sunday (range closed), we may be better off postponing a week or doing it next month. It's raining saturday.

Do we know if the range will be closed again this weekend? Looks like it might rain again this Sunday, not sure if that's enough for the creek to get flooded though.

As of right now weather.com shows lytle creek as early morning showers at 60%.

Not sure what that'll do to creek though if the runoff will make it unpassable.
If it was like last week the creek was high and flowing pretty strong

New post on their forum - creek is still flowing with deep depth. I would be in favor of postponing the shoot 1-2 weeks given the weather situation as Dave suggested. Would also be a good opportunity to take advantage of the snow in the mountains if you are so inclined.

Side note: does anyone have a good source of 7.7 Jap? I’d like to bring my type 99 out but I am running dangerously low on ammo.

Your best bet would be to reload using Prvi Partizan cases. I don't think Prvi makes actual loaded 7.7 Jap ammo. The Precision Cartridges Inc stuff (which is made using Grafs which is just rebranded Prvi brass anyways) is well-known to be trash ammunition.

From their Facebook report the 24th may be a safer bet.

The creek flow washed out some of the ramps, and the thing will need to be regraded to allow lower cars to pass.

Yeah I think 24th would be better. Gives the range time to repair the road leading up if there indeed was damage from the recent rainstorms, plus it looks like it's gonna rain some more later this week.

Might be raining again this weekend and according to range office posts they can't fix the road leading up to the range until the creek subsides, and the creek won't subside until the rain dies down.

Perhaps we might want to think about an alternate venue for just this month in case rain decides to poke in again by this weekend?
