It is different. The action of the knife is super smooth, but the ball has to be dug into unlike a Axis. A larger ball would be ideal, but it works. The ball lock does not really let the blade loose to be flipped shut - I never used my Axis locks like that because it didn't work for me... flipping shut usually bounces the blade back for me. Though I seem to have it down on some of my compression locks like the new Warnie PM2.

You'd have to try one. I hear Hogue has the best Axis type lock now. This ball lock will not satisfy you if you are expecting that action. It is more like a one-hand back lock to me (I know that doesn't make sense hahah). The lock is kind of stiff.

Overall a great little knife with innovative locking. Flicks open great. Closes great with practice.

Just when I think I won't own many more Spyderco's I get a bunch that are fun fidgets.

I've not experienced too many different brands, but have a couple benchmade Axis knives. VERY fun to just play with and Benchmade folders are super light. And the pivot screw is very adjustable.

Still getting used to the Spyderco white ball on the amazon knife you recommended, crufflers. Opens quickly using the thumb hole. I need more practice retracting it, but closing well isn't as important as opening quickly.

It works great... better than other wave devices. That's a pretty aggressive hook. Hooks any pocket and opens super smooth so far. Regular wave hooks would not work on thick sweat pants or similar - this seems to grab on anything. Here's a typical Kershaw Emerson.

I like the big aggressive Emerson hook. Made some on spydercos but they are a little small. For tactical bigger is better I think.

Nice one. I had that one in my cart a few times and have not pulled the trigger... how do you like it? Seems pretty close in size to some SYKCO's I got recently, but not warnies. I just want the fixed counterpart to the YojimboII.

A new Cold Steel Luzon; beside an M9 for size comparison.

Yeah, it's a bit bigger than expected. Easily the largest flipper that I own.

I love the options you can change the sheath mount to. I have it set so it sits parallel to my belt. The knife itself is nice and thick, well balanced and literally razor sharp.

Would definitely buy again.

Nice one. I saw some the other day at Cutlery Shoppe... tempting. Cool blades and saw.

My son has one of those GEC 15's with the glow in the dark scales... sheep's foot blade, bottle opener/flathead.

Nice Trapper, the SS blade and wrist throng hole options will serve you well. Was it a factory order or a dealer order and how long did it take to receive it?

This one was (new) from Nordic Knives so no real wait. I was ok with the premium to avoid the long, long wait when ordering direct.
