0% STI 2011 build
Here is the latest project.
For anyone w/ access to a CNC machine I have posted the CAD and CAM file here: http://a360.co/1JeL1pq If you haven't tried Autodesk Fusion 360 - its great. The model is based off of mik's cad file on grabcad.com. I extended the dust cover to full length and added tactical rail. Also some of the dimensions were off a bit particularly the frame rails had to be fixed. Here is the block of 1.5" square x 8" 7075 aluminum: After the first few operations: Flipped to machine the Right side of frame: After top is machined: Bottom is machined and final product (I still need to drill plunger tube hole and square off hammer area: |

No custom jigs - just std parallels and the vice! For the Plunger tube I am using a right angle bracket attached to the table and the frame clamped to it vertically. I use a passive electronic probe (wildhores innovations) A good probe is key as I zero on the slide stop hole and sometimes of the grip screw hole.
