Default Planning a camping trip in Colorado…any personal knowledge of carry regulations?

I understand that my California CCW is not valid.

I believe I can have a firearm in my vehicle and trailer.

Confused about open carry. It sounds like it’s legal unless a specific town has an ordinance prohibiting it?

Can I open carry on hiking trails? Concealed carry on trails? Campsite?

CC in vehicle is good to go.

Can’t open carry in some urban areas/counties.

Where do you plan on hiking?

West side of the San Juan’s…Telluride area. Not really worried about town, just trails and campsite.

Campsite would be like a home, so concealed is fine.

Open carry only on trails. That area seems rural so I don’t foresee any issues from a local ordinance.

CO is one of the handful of States that only honors the resident permits of the States they honor.

If the State permit that CO honors is held be a non-resident of that State, then CO does not honor that permit. In order to be honored by CO, the permit holder must be a resident of the State the permit is issued in.

CO state laws allows local Gov (county, city) to regulate if open carry is legal or not within that Gov's jurisdiction.

Therefore, in order to determine if you can legally open carry, you need to look up the ordinances of every county and city that you will be in (travel through, stay in, etc).

AZ DPS requires you present your state ID/DL along with AZ CCW when requested by a peace officer, not just the CCW.

Where is that requirement?

https://www.azleg.gov/ars/13/03112.htm

Quote:
13-3112. Concealed weapons; qualification; application; permit to carry; civil penalty; report; applicability

A. The department of public safety shall issue a permit to carry a concealed weapon to a person who is qualified under this section. The person shall carry the permit at all times when the person is in actual possession of the concealed weapon and is required by section 4-229 or 4-244 to carry the permit. If the person is in actual possession of the concealed weapon and is required by section 4-229 or 4-244 to carry the permit, the person shall present the permit for inspection to any law enforcement officer on request.
Application:

https://www.azdps.gov/sites/default/...20Fillable.pdf

I got mine entirely by mail. I wasn't even in Arizona! I did have to apply in person for my WA permit.

Read the back of the AZ permit if you haven’t already:

Quote:
This permit must be presented with an official form of photo identification […]
Even so, presenting just an AZ CCW without photo ID is pointless as it could be stolen etc.

So it does. I guess it pays to read the fine print on the back...

But your DL will show that you are not an AZ resident, so no CCW for you in CO. If I am correct, nothing is recognized in as many places as my resident Idaho Enhanced CWL. With my OR CHL, I can carry in 41 states. Of course, some of those states are permitless.

I wonder why different Websites show different info - the Reciprocity Maps show different states honoring permits. Try This - https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/res...p/az-gun-laws/

For Example - I was looking at AZ & NM CCW permits. Both maps show different states that honor these permits..
