Default New to CCW - Need Help! Thanks in Advance!

Hey guys,

I live in Hayward, CA. Apparently, it's almost impossible to get a CCW here. Recently saw an Ad on Facebook about ASDI - they teach and do all your paperwork for non-resident UT CCW - for a price of $203 (including everything).

I started doing some research and found AZ CCW, which is essentially the same (except WA state). However, ASDI doesn't seem to teach that class/do paperwork. Permit fees are $63 for AZ /$60 for UT. (Prefer AZ, but open for UT also)
I am looking for a One Stop Shot, that won't charge $200, I'd like to get either of these permits.

SO, where's that one stop shot? OR how can I do this on my own for cheaper? Either way, I understand will need to prove my class/training time, I presume.

Thanks in Advance... Will keep you all posted about the process.

If the $200 includes the training, the fingerprint card submission and the Utah fees, that's not too bad of a deal.

i agree with this somewhat. az will require proof of some kind of firearms training. Then you have to get your fingerprints by someone qualified. In San Diego, i took a handgun training course at a local range for like $125 and the instructor, who is retired leo, did the fingerprints, with the official cards that az accepts, for free. so my total costs for the az permit was less than $200. ymmv. good luck.

Planning to travel outside of CA, I hope. None of those non-resident CCWs are good in CA. For that matter, no other-state resident CCWs are good in CA - CA honors only CA's CCW.

If you plan on traveling to those states, it would make sense. I'm not sure of your intentions, but I feel I need to clarify, the ccw in those states won't benefit you as a CA resident. You still won't be able to legally carry here without a CA ccw.

Did you read ALL my posts in my CA CCW Application Advice thread pinned at the top of the County CCW Info forum? Did you figure out the strongest GC you can prove and compare that to Alameda SO’s GC requirement (as indicated on the CA CCW GC map)?

Consider why you want a CCW for Utah or any other state unless the purpose is to carry outside of California as a CCW from any other state isn't valid in CA.

Just advice. Keep your CCW progress to yourself, it's no one else's business. The less said about your efforts to get a CCW, the better. Keep it off of Facebook, Twitter or other social media. That is just opinion.

I would hold off and save the Benjamin Franklin twins till 2023.

Rumors are the SCOTUS will rule in favor of Shall issue Nationwide around May days to November calendar publishing.

If they pack the court the SCOTUS will pack the people.

Get both permits. Utah will allow you to carry in Washington. With both permits you can carry upto 39 states.

Sure.
Especially with a new ultra liberal judge being added by the Brandon administration . . .

I forgot to mention that I am Aware that Kalifornia doesn't honor any other state's CCW. So, I don't expect to carry in here...

Sounds exactly the opposite - Why would Dems rule in favor of "Shall Issue"?

I'm Aware! And yes, I don't mention much on the social media, except there. But that too, only to get advice. Thanks!

I would be shocked if the court ruled in our favor. Neither Kavanaugh nor Barrett can be trusted. The new chick is a wash with Breyer.

Shall issue:

Please take a number. Your number is Z-4,582,491. Now serving A-003 at counter number 6.

A month later: Now serving A-005 at counter number 3.
Wait!!!! My number was A-005!!! We called that number yesterday. I was in the bathroom for only a few seconds.

No problem, your new number is Z-5,840,371.

Attention, would the person who just left counter number 7 please return? Your payment didn't go through and you need to get a new number to correct the problem.

AZ will take hunter's ed as proof of training. You can do that online now, and it is also something that will allow you to get a hunting license in any state and is valid for life. So it is well worth it. Get it while you still can online, which was never possible before Covid and may not be forever.

https://www.hunter-ed.com/california...afety%20course

Then just get your fingerprints rolled and mail in the application. You should have a CCW mailed back in 60 - 90 days.
