I sprung this CZ 550 American from jail Monday. I took it out to range but only rang the 235 yard gong. If only they made a lefty in .308.

My first bolt action build. Started as a stock savage 11 in 308.
Now:
Choate tactical stock( which I just did my first bedding job on last night)
Timney trigger
HD stainless recoil lug
CDI bottom metal
AI magazines
DNZ one piece scope mount
Leupold 3x9x40
Custom bull barrel cut to 18" and threaded for my suppressor that I'll hopefully have in about 5 more months lol

This is my first bolt action and just wanted a versatile rifle that I could count on for hunting and still be able to go have fun at the range and this is what it is now. Putting on the new barrel and shooting it the first time was sketchy, hoping I did the head spacing right haha. As well as the bedding job. That was nerve wrecking. Would like to upgrade optics in the future.

my friend shot this for his first time
cut his eye and nose because the scope hit him in the face from the recoil

super accurate using russian ammo im sure even better using good stuff
of course no paper hits just steel and large rocks
but it hit where we aimed at, so thats good enough for me

There are some really nice rifles here gentlemen. Great work!

But I got to say, if I had my choice, I would take Iggy's Tac-Ops on post #46.

I've been wanting one of those for a long while now.

Beautiful rifle Iggy!

Tikka T3 lite SS .308. Tikka performance recoil block & bolt shroud, added a Limbsaver. Leopold 3X9X40 VX11 & DNZ low mount. Only shot it twice on the bipod/bag, liking it. Just got a bunch of FGMM 168gn.

One inch grids. The orange diamond next to quarter is 3/4" The group above it I was shooting at the two arrows, couldn't see it well. I'm improving & that's what matters to me.

Post war Czech "swp45" 7.62 Israeli Mauser with nifty rear sight scout mount that allows me to still use the irons and my Leupold VXII scope.

Rem 700 .308

XLR Element Chassis

Old style Rem Trigger 1.75 lbs

22" Custom Barrel 1.25" tapers to 1"

Custom Muzzle Brake

Nightforce 3.5-15X50

Nightforce rings

Harris BiPod 6"-9"

Only had two chances to shoot it so far one to zero newly mounted scope and the next was 600 yds but that's a curly hair less than 1 MOA with HSM 175gr. near as I can tell.

Credit goes to gunsmith Mike Badella at Full Spectrum Firearms Fresno, CA.

Can't wait to roll my own and see what it can do.

Default Freshly back from Spartan

Marc Soulie at Spartan Rifles trued my old Remington 5R action. He rebarreled it with a Bartlein 1:10 twist MTU contour. It was cut to 26" and threaded with Badger FTE brake. A Larue 20moa rail was installed. The entire barreled action was Cerakoted in "Magpul OD Green".

I added a Jewel HVR trigger and an AICS 2.0 chassis. An standard-height Atlas bipod on the AICS spigot finishes off the build.

Glass is a Vortex Razor HD Gen II 4.5-27x mounted in Larue LT120 QD rings.

Doing some load development, i eked out a 0.184" 4-shot group (after adjusting 2mils up with the first shot) and a 0.341" 5-shot group with just a touch more powder.

Marc does amazing work!

Savage 10-fp with HS precision stock, this is the older version with internal magazine.

TPS rings and 20 MOA rail. 16x super sniper, which Ive been meaning to get the zero-stop for. Scary accurate especially with handloads. Currently using 175 gr SMK's, varget, and reloader 15.

[/URL]

And since some of us "cheated" by posting non .308's in this thread, here was my first "precision" boltie. Clamp on aluminum mount by swiss products (outstanding product). Bushnell elite 10x mildot, though the stock sights are still an option with the offset mount.

This is what inspired me to get a precision 308. I shoot GP-11 which was absolutely made for long range accuracy. Swiss quality is inspiring, I really wan't to see how much better handloads can do-many say its not much better. This rifle is absolutely an option for 600 yards, maybe further. Ive seen video's of people ringing gongs to 1500 yards with the stock sights.

This is our sight-in target. The two on the left are the first two shots ever fired in the gun after bore sighting. I stabilized the rifle after these two shots and moved the cross hairs to the bullet impact and shot 8 more shots with minor tweaks.

This is the first 5 shot group I have ever shot with a bolt action rifle. It measured edge-to-edge at about 0.9455" which puts it at ~0.64 MOA with my shooting. I don't think I did too bad for my first time shooting a bolt gun. I hope to get my groups below 0.5 MOA with practice and custom loads. We were shooting factory Norma Match with Sierra 168gr HPBT MK bullets
How do you like that B&C A5 Stock?

Shoot me a PM about the mount on that. I just got a shooter grade K31 and I am REALLY impressed with GP11 ammo at how well it shoots at 100-200 with irons. We were popping off clay after clay with GP11 at around 125 yards with irons like it was nothing. I want to scope mine and see how she REALLY shoots with my minimal skill.

I only have one left and it's just a boring worthless crappy Winchester pre 64 feather weight in really really good cond. But the thing is real old it was born in 1952 and there wasn't any ultra modern machinery back then so you know how sloppy it would be and it must shoot real bad too So I'm not gonna bore you with a pic of my un tactical 308.
