hey, i like all black. my next build is going all black too. keep it clean and simple. plus painting your scope decreases the value of the scope.

That's why my scope is still a virgin, at least one of them anyway. I was thinking of camoing Savannah in different shades of pastel though for next season . . . sometimes I get tired of OD, Sand, Coyote Brown, and Black . . .

I'm not worried about CRT's opinion anyway... especially when the link is to something he wrote. Sorry CRT, not all of us can go through life making things up on the internet and then using them for reference in forums. One of these days you'll get a real job instead of that aspiring internet writer thing you try to do. Have you considered gay porn? How about trying out to be the next tub girl.... only you could use Red Bull instead of orange juice..... yeah...... ![]() ![]()

i think someone got offended. no need to get upset. if you can outshoot the next to you with that rifle, more power to you.
just remember people will critic your rifle if you go camo, and especially if it resembles an m40a1. the m40a1 has a high reputation to hold up to, that's all. shiny things on a real sniper weapon won't look legitimate to people. |

For the record.... I was J/K with CRT.... He knows me well enough to take that completely in jest....
As for the rifle.... I didn't set it up; it came as-is. I wasn't going to argue with the goods as they're top quality and I would have had to spend $3k+ to put it together otherwise. I'm not sure how well I can shoot it as of yet... a little range time past 100 yards is in order before I make that decision. The guy I got it from was able to shoot groups in the 5" range at 1000 yards, so I know the rifle will do it. Me? That's a good question..... ![]() As far as others critiquing the rifle because it resembles an M40a1.... don't really care.... It is what it is and I'm not going to toss a $1k McMillan stock so it doesn't resemble something or other..... Would you? ![]() Quote:

It's how you USE the mildot that counts genius. Even a small mildot can make it happen 1000 yards away!
![]() BTW... 2 Sundays ago, I beat Joe, and everyone alse at the folsom 1K tactical shoot- with my 22-250 AI. First place baby. First .22 to win the match, ever, and the highest score recorded at the range. so there. Last edited by CRTguns; 11-15-2007 at 3:00 PM.. |

Dude... I beat EVERYBODY, and did it with a 22-250. Crazy. Alright- it's a 7.5 twist pacnor polygonal bore, 1.400" OD barrel, bedded into 6 pounds of glass, carbon and kevlar with a LP MK4 TMR.
That PSG is giving me soggy drawers. Just the thought that I'm in geographical proximity to it... wow. Did you heat treat the thing after welding? |

i purchased the 10 round mag like 12 years ago i was going to block it so i could use my 91 for hunting but i just use my rem700 instead, i kept it around because i always wanted a PSG-1 and the fact that its on a PTR91 receiver in this damn state means i cannot put one of my 20's into it.
no i did not heat treat it. factory H&K's arent heat treated either they aneal them to releive stress. basicly heat the whole thing up and let it cool slowly over time. i've never heard of anyone with a home build haveing any problems as far as stress cracks or etc... as long as the person who put the rifle togeather used a TIG welder and the proper amount of heat for penetration without overheating the part if you need a 10 rnd mag THMPR i might be able to find one for you give me some time to track one down, last i checked PTR91.com had some but that was a while ago |

My sniper rifles are no where as cool as everyone else, I am on a tight budget with school. I have to count my Mosin and my deer hunting rifle a sniper rifle, until i could get a real sniper rifle.

Is that an American made trigger or a foreign one? I'd love to get a new trigger for my SAR8 but it needs to be an American made one.

![]() NO bipod for big daddy though. I've shot 6 rnds through mine. #'S 4,5,6 WERE all within a nickel at 100 yds.. NOt great but not bad for a box stock rifle and scope. I'll see if I can find the target. I have a $1000+ in the setup and have fired 6 shots in 9 yrs with it. Seems like a waste.

BBl is Christiansen tensioned Carbon fiber.
Bottom is badger Brake is Vais Trigger is Can-Jar Safety is a M70 type by ? Scope is a Loopy 4.5-14x50 TMR TPS mounts I made the stock- It'a not modified from another stock- it's 100% handmade. Polyurethane Foam core, Carbon Fiber construction, with a little bit of aramid amid the layers. Wet-sanded down to 800grit, and rubbed with carnuba wax. The rifle sets in a full-length aluminum V block. The Adjustment in the rear is a wacky design I came up with- the knob in the grip turns the cheekrest up and down. Way over-engineered. It is NOT that stick-on carbon contact paper. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The stock weighed less than 1 pound (15 oz) before I put in the stem to stern aluminum v block bedding bar, and the adjustable comb hardware, and the dead weight in the forearm, just ahead of the lug, to bring the stock's weight up to a whopping 4 pounds. The barreled action and bottom metal is only another 4 lbs. Damn that carbon fiber!
