I have a featureless rifle with Surefire muzzle brake, and I'm thinking about pairing it with Surefire Warden.
Does the warden suppress flash on the muzzle brake, and would adding turn my featureless into aw? |

By the wording of the law, it IS because it redirects the flash away from the view of the shooter by funneling the flash further forward and into a longer but smaller diameter flame than a plain muzzle or a muzzle brake.

For anyone interested in further reading and the revision history of the definition (which gives insight to the legislative intent), here is an article we wrote... https://sparrowdynamics.medium.com/f...l-94901d038ddb Also, please DM or email us if you notice anything wrong that we should correct, because we want it to be a helpful and accurate resource to the community. |

If you use your interpretation, any brake that redirects any blast (for example sideways) would be a flash hider also. We know that’s not the case, since even those make a huge fireball and there is enough excess flash it’s going to blind your field of view. Especially at night. But it’s good to know that the politicians in Ca prefer to blind shooters so they can’t see where they are aiming. I’m sure that goes hand in hand with the “safe” handgun roster. |

No it doesn’t suppress flash at all. In fact, if you want to see a huge fireball, use the Warden 🙂 |

Regardless...I'm intrigued by these.

In a way it’s like this:
https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1003379774 The flaming pig. That says it’s a flash suppressor and makes a huge fireball.

Legality wise, I don't know enough about your states laws.
But the Warden and devices like that, do not minimize muzzle flash, they simply direct the blast forward , rather then off to the side. (think shooting in a room with others beside you ) Example of the redirection... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vA2vcFpUndg Example of the Warden amplifying the muzzle flash at night... ( granted a 308 ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EW7Crf7dWj4 It doesn't take much to figure out why the Flaming Pig is called that. Last edited by bfoosh006; 12-24-2022 at 9:49 PM.. |
