Default Check the air when you get a flat fixed!

I was up on FS 555 north of banks-lowman highway scouting yesterday. Rough road, very rocky and edgy in places. About twelve miles up, decided to turn around and backed the Jeep over some sort of metal on the berm of the road. DS rear tire went flat almost immediately. I found the most level place I could to change the tire. When I put on the spare, supposedly patched and fixed by the tire place, it was flatter than a drunken trumpet player. They forgot to air it up! Fortunately, had a compressor so all worked out, but it could have gone really badly. Hardly anyone was up that far, but one fellow on an ATV hunting coyotes did stop and check. From now on, I am going to check the air every time I get a flat fixed.

I thought this was a parody thread to the diesel fuel in OR thread.

Yeah, keeping your spare aired up is always a good idea. Better yet, have an on board air compressor.

luckily the spare had been patched.

With an onboard compressor I'd prefer slime as it runs longer than fix a flat I believe. For out in the middle of nowhere

I carry a mini-compressor and a plug kit in my truck, had to use it last year in the middle of nowhere out in the desert. Saved my butt.

I keep those red tire plugs in my truck so I can get it back on the road. Heat them up a little to get the glue hot before you shove them in. It's been saving my *** for 20 years now. Sometimes it's hard to get it in the hole but I'm getting good at it.

I'm on my third roadside tire filler, they're really only good for a few fill ups before the hose gets too hot to work right. I keep a couple compressors on hand incase it happens at the wrong time. A real in engine compressor is something I've looked at but the cheap ones are $30 and don't take any mounting or electrical work.

That, a compressor, and a chainsaw are always in my jeep when I leave the pavement.
