Do you like the stock? Is it comfortable to shoot?
I ask because a couple of places are selling these stocks (with a sporting style fore end) as factory take-offs for ~$40 and I was thinking about getting one. I don't need the fore end as I have a Sure Fire, but the stock was intriguing me.

Once thing.... only after about 50 rounds, I started having an issue with extraction. I took it to a local Remington warranty repair shop. They fixed it free, but told me that the machinery at the factory is getting old and worn out, so it effects the quality of the newer 870's being sold these days. They said they got a lot of 870's with the same problem. The fix was simple and it has been fine ever since.
I have had mine now for about 8 or 9 months. I have hundreds of rounds through it now. Like I said, the repair was free under warranty, but just be aware you might possibly have the same issue I had.

It's a 870 tactical or something like that. And the chamber issue can affect all 870's. You prob won't have a problem, but if you do just take it in for a free fix, I'm sure you can live without your gun for a day or two.

the barrels are not plugged before they are parked, and this extra coating sometimes (not always) causes issues with expanding ammo (such as the cheaper winchester and other low brass cheap ammo) simply polishing the chamber fixes it

A side question....how long is the Remington warranty? I've had mine for about 5 or 6 years now.. |

I like the stock but I switch it with a pistol grip when I'm not shooting clay targets. If you want a synthetic for $40 it's not bad, but if you plan on shooting 3in slugs and buckshot I think you should look into one of those recoil reducing stocks.
As for the extracting issues I have had two shells out of about the 400 I put through it. Both of them were the first or second shot of the day, and I just had to use both hands and pull hard to extract them, after that the gun works fine, I was also using Wally world bulk federal shells at the time. |

Looks just like my 870 Tactical, with the exception of mine having a Knoxx. Keep mine bedside loaded with military buckshot. Kind of like a welcome wagon for the uninvited

I polished the chamber, hopefully that fixed the extracting issues, I also keep a speedfeed pistol grip on it when I am not shooting clay or anything.
If you are looking for a pistol grip, the speedfeed is the only way to go, all the vertical pistol grips I tried were a ***** on my hand with heavy loads. This one doesn't hurt at all even with 2.75 buckshot and slugs, I haven't had the chance to try 3in stuff with it. Very happy with it. Looks like this kinda |

Congrats on the 870, looks nice. My bro-in-law owns a similar one and I like it, and he has never had problems even though I am sure he is less than nice to it
It feels a bit heavier, in a good way, than my Mossberg 500. Though I like my Mossy just fine too |
