Just a few minutes ago, a concerned (11550) citizen called from a payphone to report Whoopi Goldberg was at a nearby gas station performing resurrections. I didn't enter a call because I'm not sure that's illegal.

Unknown Trouble of a male in a mobile home who is fighting a "striped horse." Sure enough the man was altered and had stolen a zebra from a animal rescue farm and had it in his home.

Got a call of a "woman gasping for air due to poison gas in her bedroom." She said that her neighbors were pumping the poison gas through her open bedroom window. Closing the window, for some reason "wasn't an option."

I found out that she was a frequent flyer, calling every couple of months with the same problem. The solution was to go into her bedroom as she watched, turn up the squelch on my handheld radio so it made that hissing noise, and wave the radio around, "de-poisoning the bedroom."

A couple of months later the "de-poisoning" had worn off and had to be renewed.

Had a woman bring her 5 year old into the station. Wanted me to lock him up for a few hours to show him what it was like and scare him. I told her that I wasn't in the "child scaring business."

A lady called 911 and advised dispatch that a theft had just occurred and the suspect was walking down the street. It was 120 degrees that day and I am already getting a heat rash from my vest so I was not in a very pleasant mood.

I show up at her residence and she runs frantically up to my unit. She is pointing down the street saying the suspect went that way. I ask her what did he take and she said he that he took a cigarette butt from her ashtray that is located on her front porch. Needless to say I tactically told her to pound sand and drove away.

My kid won't eat his dinner. I offered to eat it for him. Mom complained.

Man wanted a hit and run report taken because a semi took out a low hanging branch over the road.

You should see the calls for service that gets negative response (no broadcast).

Woman said cat was stolen. Brings cat to wooded area every morning and picks up the cat in the evening. Found a note on a tree that said, " Thanks for the cat." Wants theft report.

I got a call directly to my desk once from a nut job claiming UFO's and aliens were around his roof. He had already put foil on his windows, but it was only mildly effective in keeping radio waves out.

I told him this sounded like a federal matter and I would give him the number to the local FBI office. He said he called them first and the FBI gave him my desk number. I never did find out which agent gave out my number.

Had a fun one today. Large tropical bird standing on the side of the road. Caller thought it was odd.

Our dispatch center would often get calls from people asking to speak to Detective "Bear Row." (Bureau). They said they were told to call "him" for updates or status of their cases.

Sounds reasonable...
