Is that King's beavertail a drop-in version, or did it have to be fitted?

That's a fitted grip safety. It needs a 1/4" radius machined concentric with the safety pivot, and a lot of metal removed from the frame around the web of your hand. I do the radius on a belt sander with a jig I made, and the rest with a 3/8" carbide burr in a foredom tool, finishing it with sanding rolls, files flap wheels, and sandpaper.

I also relieve the safety to move the hand even higher about another 1/16" than the stock King's safety, and also checkered the pad on the safety. All in all by the time it came out of the bead blaster I've got about 8 hours into it. It's the second one I've done. If you look higher up in this post you'll also see my Officer's model I did the King's safety and some checkering to. The front strap checkering is the real time investment. You need to be OCD to take this on without F*ing it up...

My recent-production NRM Series 80, but with a standard (metal, ahem) grooved mainspring housing installed, along with some nice Colt medallion grips.

This gun has traveled Calguns a bit...I'm the third? Calgunner to be owned by her.

Just picked up a Colt 'Enhanced' .38 Super in "Bright Stainless" from fellow Calgunner BStrong.

She came with a pair of carbon fiber grips (didn't like them on the Bright Stainless, but they sure look nice on my Springfield!). I swapped in a pair of Hakan Peks.

Default Plain Jane Series 80 Commander (steel frame ca. 2004/2005)

Recently picked this up from a fellow Calgunner. Couple of small scratches on slide & below slide release. Great shooter. Will customize one day...

That model O package looks good! Upgraded sights, reblued slide, beavertail grip safety, short trigger...I wonder what else was done to it? Personally, I'm going to start with the grips. Wood looks nice and classy, but I find the grips made of G10 to hold up better to wear and tear than wood and give you better grip when your palms start to sweat.

Model O package is $375. It includes dovetail front/rear Novak sights, Smith and Alexander upswept beavertail grip safety, de-horn, and re-finish.

I really like Larry Davidson (Lazza) grips as well as VZ's if you want something with a little more positive grip.

I have a spare pair of VZ operator slim grips I'm going to put on mine.

I can't find my price list now, and I don't recall if the Model O package includes a trigger job or not. Colt charges $50 for trigger enhancement, IIRC.

Have the birth certificate from Colt on it, she's a California native, originally shipped to and sold at hardware store in San Francisco.

These were about a week ago. Now it's not straight out the box. It has about 330 Winchester FMJ rounds down the pipe..........

NO FTE/FTF etc. of anykind

Still need to install ambi safety, grip safety and a mainspring housing......might do the extended slide stop

my 2 colts: .38super & 10mm
both are a slow working progress: 38super back to original, and the 10mm will get some new upgrades

My photography skills are sub-par
