Default Surfing is now the official California state sport

Assembly Bill 1782 has established Surfing as the official California state sport.

Signed by the Governor on August 20th and becomes effective on January 1st.

At least California government got at one thing done right during this legislative session.

Shameful PR move. Nothing more.

Never thought I'd agree with ol' Moonbeam but this is a good call.

This was done months ago. A PR move for sure. I've been a surfer since I was 8 and appreciate the nod. Still will never vote Democrat.

It should’ve also stated in the bill that Huntington Beach (not Santa Cruz) is “Surf City.”

Ask the good folks in Barstow or Susanville how this would make thief lives better.

Government and its employees continue to feed their insatiable thirst for YOUR money to do their misdeeds....and too many sheeple will think that's just great.

I always thought the state sport was the misuse of public funds.
It appears to be very popular and doesn't require any water.

Lol, my first thought too.

Actually surprised the maroons in Sacto didn't select soccer (futbol) just to further cater to their Hispanic base.

Some of the other choices were hacky sack, couchsurfing, driving with no insurance and "pondering".

( that last one, where you just sit around and think about pretty much nothing and somehow get paid for it... really should have won my opinion.)

I'm surprised it wasn't soccer. That is a fitting sport for the capitol of the third world.

If you have never surfed it's your loss being this close to some of the best surfing in the world.
I wish Dana harbor was never built!

Do they include boggie boarding and body surfing? Or how about couch surfing and crowd surfing. Plenty of milenials done the later.

If Brown did it, I would immediately assume it was the beginning of the end of the sport.

There’s more shooters in commiefornia than surfers. But don’t let that fact ruin the image.

So if I participate in the official state sport and get mauled by a shark, I guess I can sue the state for officially sanctioning an activity that resulted in personal injury.
This is of course after I finish sueing them for allowing grass to grow during my alergy outbreak

Really happy one of these boobs actually took time during the legislative session to sit down... think about this.. write it up.. blah blah blah..
