So based on where they were 70 days ago when my father in law got his (interviewed 4/4) they aproved 15 days worth of interviews in 70 days. That's 4.66 days to a prove one day worth of interviews.

By that math I have 102 days to go (may 9th interview)

Sadly, that's not correct. They were interviewing 3 days a week back then. So, 7 days of interviews instead of 15.

Sheriff Moore clearly does not care about the post election delays with the CCW process. I think its total BS and the San Joaquin County Sheriffs Department should be called out on these delays. At the current rate, it will be several more months before they even get through the April applicants. Where are the extra investigators they were hiring?

Maybe its time for the Cal Guns Foundation to draft a letter to the Sheriff.

I was under the impression they were doing 5 days a week.

A letter from them may just make them change policy is what I am afraid of, it would be very easy for him to say no good cause and see if we file a lawsuit

Yes my interview was 4/18. Some have asked for timelines so here is mine.

Early March called for interview appointment. Was given 8/6.
The next week got a call saying they hired more and asked if I wanted to move it up to 4/18 which of course I said yes.
Called the week before verifying appointment since it would be on Good Friday and it was confirmed.
4/18 showed up for appointment and was told they didn't have me down but would take me anyway.
9/1 Sheriff's Office called and asked if I was planning on carrying at work.
9/10 received call for approval.

Interviewed 4/30, got the approval today. Interestingly they never called with additional questions like I'm hearing with a lot of people - maybe they're eliminating that step to speed up the process.

Congrats 1919A4!

I asked for a bit more movement, and I got some myself.
Received a call this morning from my original investigator today to follow up on some of the questions such as the "was I planning on carrying at work".

Based on 1919A4 timing, perhaps I will get another call next Tuesday.

Timing so far:

4/7/2014 - 4/18/2014 - Phone tag with SJSO OPR
4/21/2014 - Called/call-back for appointment
4/28/2014 - Appointment interview, 8am
6/16/2014 - Called to check on background and add 3rd serial
7/22/2014 - Walked in, added 3rd serial
9/16/2014 - Received call from Investigator for followup/confirmation questions

I am happy for you and do not have a problem with them handling it the way they did for you but I do have a problem with their inconsistency. They need to do the same thing for everyone and they need to stop jumping around so much.

Default venting

Just letting off steam we should not have to wait months on end for our ccw's . We would not wait this long for a building permit or business license from the county why do we put up with Moore dragging his feet on issueing permits .He needs to know that he works for us and not the other way around . I hope everyone has a memory like an elephant if he runs for any office again .There are lots of ways to staff the position of the investigator he could use light duty officers and other it is clear to me once he was reelected issueing ccw's or listening to the voters in the county is not important to him .

My interview was 4/23, no calls of any kind yet.

Has anyone been getting hassled for taking their training class prior to approval? I took mine a few months ago along with a buddy who got his approval, and I have heard from one guy who claims they made him retake the class since too much time had elapsed between his class and approval. I have no idea what that time limit is.

I interviewed 6/18 and was told by the investigator it would be 3 to 4 months wait for approval and that I could take the class early. Just took the class this weekend. Hopefully they dont jam me up about the class early.

I asked about this for San Joaquin and they told me since it was there fault for the long delays they would accept my training. Interviewed on 4/16 and training on 4/27.

Answer: Investigators are now asking for a copy of your employer's firearm policy before approval.

When they asked you, did you bring the letter from your supervisor stating if you were or were not allowed to carry, I brought in a letter signed by my manager that I was unable to carry at work signed by him and his card stapled to it.

Took my class on 6/19 approved on 9/22, picked up today 9/23, they didn't blink an eye when I handed them my certificate of completion.

I think the 'correct answer' should think is the truthful, however, if you say no, they will ask if it is because of policy or personal reasons; if you say yes, they may want to see the policy and/or have a note from your employer stating it is ok for you to carry at work.
