My Tacoma A/C went out last year.
The fan would blow warm/hot air, but the clutch never cycled on. I thought it was low on freon, but it wasn't. Although it's a longshot, maybe you have the same problem I had. A few weeks later when I went to use the windshield squirter and it didn't work, I figured out that it must be an electrical problem causing the problems. Rats had chewed through electrical tape (that covers the wires) and though a few wires located on the passenger side between the headlight and the fender. I was able to splice the wires back together and get both problems resolved. You might look for chewed up wires. Rat droppings on the fender might lead you to it. Apparently around the year 2000, auto manufacturers switched from petroleum based insulation on wiring to soy based insulation and the rats love it. The neighbors across the street have a RAV4 that they don't drive much and the rats went to town. Cost them around $6.5K ![]() Insurance doesn't cover it. 20220728_084200[1].jpg |
