Default Walmarts in SD County still selling ammo

Apologies if a thread already exist but I could not find one, does any one know of Walmarts that are still selling ammo in the county? Im in North County and knew of 5 that used to sell and out of those 5 only one kept selling. Walmart off of Nordahl.

I was there on Sunday and they stopped selling because apparently per CA there needs to be 10 employees on the payroll able to sell ammo and that particular store only has 2? Something along those lines, ill most likely check in Friday or so and see if anything changes. In the meanwhile I wanted to see if there were other options.

That can't be right. Some places don't even have 10 employees.

It definitely seemed suspicious to me, hopefully the employee gave me wrong information. The ammo case had signs stating there would be no selling of ammo.

Bought some shotshells at Poway's Walmart a month ago.

Just saw an old post, this is what it had.

For San Diego County buyers, here are the stores no longer carrying ammo:

2094 Vista
2150 Chula Vista
2291 San Diego (Dennery)
2479 San Diego (College Grove)
2494 Oceanside (Vista Way)
3524 El Cajon (Fletcher Pkwy)
3947 Chula Vista
5023-National City
5075 Oceanside (Marron)
5140 La Mesa
5886 Encinitas
5996 Escondido

I know for a fact both Oceanside locations, Vista and Encinitas havent been carrying ammo for several months now.

Relatively sure the Walmart in the Oceanside valley near 76 and college sells ammo and also the San Marcos Walmart off of Nordahl. Best to call and ask before driving though.

Poway still sells. Just bought a bunch of cci .22 last week. Asked the employee if he knew of any changes and he said they weren’t told anything and suspect it will be business as usual.

I thought I read somewhere that it will only be the superstores. Are the ones people have listed still selling superstores?

I had a similar experience at the Murphy Canyon Walmart last Tuesday. They had a small sign saying "No ammo sales." I asked one of the associates and he states that "the store lost its COE."

I asked when they will get their COE back, he just shrugged his shoulder.

But the Walmart at Shawline still sells ammo, I bought some yesterday.

Ill have to try the one off pf the 79 then, I went a year ago and they pulled all their ammo out. Perhaps they changed their policy.

Target Sports USA sells it and ships it free to a FFL of your choice. I use Gunfighter Tactical because it's free.

It's all over July 1st so don't delay...

Not trying to spread any FUD, but I got an email from SoCal Guns stating that:
If you are a hunter, switching to lead free ammunition is an inconvenience. However, the ammunition restrictions make it a bigger problem (SEE BELOW). If you purchased your hunting rifle prior to 2014 the State does not know what caliber you have. You cannot purchase ammunition for your rifle unless it is on record with the state. What to do? Make sure you get your lead free hunting ammo before the July 1st deadline. Come in today to pick up or place your order. Do not wait !

I did just that but I saw on Gunfighter Tactical’s website that they charge a sales tax fee for the service. Is that no longer the case?

Since April all sellers to CA charge sales tax. Gunfighter used to collect it before that law changed. Now you pay it when you buy it so pickup is totally free. Show ID, grab box, walk out.

I was just in the Wal-Mart off of Nordahl in San Marcos last night (June 4). I was told that someone was selling ammo at the Sporting Goods counter without the right certificates or something and they are no longer selling ammo for the time being. The staff member didn't know how long it would take to clear the mess up.
Clairemont Mesa (Shawline) is still selling ammo.
Aero (Murphy Canyon Rd) is also still selling ammo.

If you ever want to find a Walmart that sells ammo just stick your zip code in here and SKU from a box of ammo on hand and it'll show where a Walmart is near you that has some. May take a few tries since Wally's only sells certain type stuff , nothing really high end.

Wally will probably shut all of that down in July. Too much paperwork and DROS calls to make, they will loose money.

I went to a couple of Walmart’s in the San Gabriel valley both are not selling ammo because of licensing problems.

It seems like more Walmarts are closing shop with ammo, I took Jimi Jah’s advice and ordered through target sports and had it sent to Gunfighter tactical. Great recommendation.

I tried that. It wouldn't let me select an FFL during check out (button "Change FFL"). Thought they were done, shipping ammo, guess not. Did you just literally put GFT's address in the ship to address?

Walmart at Shawline still selling.
Notice is up July 1st - 7th NO sales
Sales will continue on the 8th.

A manager does need to be the one to handle the sale. So its possible you could waste your time.

I went to the Walmart off Aero the other night to buy a brick of 22lr.
I waited 40 minutes... no one ever showed up despite multiple pagings and people hunting for the manager. I ended up walking out slightly frustrated with no ammo.
I went again at lunch today. Waited about 20 minutes, again with multiple pagings... no dice. This time I walked out with some burgers and brats to BBQ at work at least!
The people working in the back were nice and apologetic. No point getting pissed at them, but sheesh!

Any opinions between the Federal and Winchester 22lr bricks? Both cost $20 for 550 or 555 rounds.

yup my first try at Shawline, the manager was out to lunch. Went back the next day and got lucky. Don't think you can go wrong with either Fed or Win in bulk 22. I've gone through more Fed than Win but havent had an issue either way.

I've been stocking up on the 100 pack 12 Gauge boxes at $22. Haven't found a better price anywhere - even online.

Poway Costco usually has someone at sporting goods to assist when I've been there.

That's so weird. I've been there at least 5x buying ammo in the last 3 months or so. Never needed a manager. The first employee I talked to was always able to help me and with no wait. Aero/Murphy Canyon walmart.
