Redding 338 die sets and Forster co-ax
Press
Repeated post from SH since I did not get a good answer there.
Tring to get better die sets for 338 but no experience with Redding dies. I have only used Lee and Hornady so far for 223, 308, 6.5cm and Swedish 6.5. Tried to learn more on YouTube and found one guy talking about Redding. He has to use shell holder with different height to bump shoulder to different length? So my question is, can I use there Redding dies with Co-ax? Since Co-ax do nos not use a holder? Also are Redding dies too high to clear Co-ax handle? Specifically I am looking at these 2 sets. 1. REDDING COMPETITION BUSHING NECK DIE SETS | Brownells https://www.brownells.com/reloading/...272-71454.aspx 2.REDDING TYPE S MATCH BUSHING NECK DIE SETS | Brownells https://www.brownells.com/reloading/...164-71380.aspx Any help is appreciated. Plenty of clearance for micrometer bullet seater.
The Redding Competition Shellholders add an additional .002" in shoulder length for each #. This could be accomplished by incrementally "unscrewing" the sizing die for each .001 needed. |

i use to run redding competition neck sizer die 308 & 338LM, but the concentricity on the neck was all over the place. it ranges from .004"~.008" on the neck. after i seat the bullet it was about the same. (i also use Co-ax)
if you haven't give the lee collet neck sizer die a try, give it a shot. My neck always came out 0.001"~0.002" with my concentricity gauge. Only issue with the Lee collet neck sizer die is it only give you about .001 neck tension. Last edited by Dave626; 05-20-2019 at 9:18 AM.. |

That's been my result with neck dies. I now use Redding full length S type bushing dies. I use a Redding Big Boss II press FWIW.

The whole purpose of the comp shellholders is to allow for a hard bump which gives a much more consistent shoulder length than unscrewing the die away from the shellholder. More here: https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/...0&postcount=11
