Mine didn't get adjusted either, the "projected" date they used on the permit was about 4 weeks before they sent it out, not a big deal at all. FCSO tries to estimate the DOJ wait and have the permit ready to send as soon as they can.

I'm still waiting for mine. After live scan I am now on my 11th week of twiddling thumbs... So this delay is at the state level or Fresno? Crazy that I signed the paper at live scan that they are going to give me back to make the license valid. Exactly what takes 11 weeks about that?

matto, It's a State delay but I was briefed that if I didn't hear anything after 90+ days to give them a call. I got mine at 80 days after livescan. Just call the CCW main number and ask about it, they won't have issue with that.

What does everyone recommend to laminate this card? Can't say I've ever laminated anything before. edit: Looks like FedEx offers that service, guess I'll go with that. Last edited by spongeworthy; 05-21-2015 at 7:52 PM.. |

So I called on Tuesday May 19th to request my second appt. (FYI, be sure to call as soon as you get you approval letter if you know you are going to take you CCW class within a couple weeks). They said the next available day for my second appt. / livescan was June 3rd.
So as of right now the lead time for your second appt. is about 2 weeks out. THEN after that the long 2+ month wait for the DOJ to get their $#!t together so I can actually receive my permit. Anyway just wanted to add that here .... be sure to not wait (I wasted a week) after you get your approval letter to call and schedule your second appt. ... of course thats if you have you class done or you will be doing it within a couple weeks after letter arrives. I've got my class today at 10:00 so hopefully it all goes well and I pass the class and qualification shooting. Thanks again for all the info guys. |

So are you folks getting issued for just "self-defense" as your GC statement, or does Fresno SO require more?

There is no need for some crazy or extenuating circumstances to be approved for a CCW through SO. If you have no record and not a felon and an upstanding citizen then you should be good to go when applying. I actually a few arrests on my background but those were 15+ years ago so they look past previous misdemeanors as well if non violent I would assume. Paladin,
I just had SD on mine and the person interviewing me said there needed to be more of a reason and then offered several 'scenarios' and asked if any of these applied to me. They then had me add several of those to my reason and said they could work with those. |

JMO. I'm still glad they readily issue CCWs. I'll leave the OP, thread title and symbol as they are for now.

Can you describe the process for this, or provide a link for a recent, detailed go-by?

Sorry to say, but you have to apply in-person. Interestingly, application is made at the local DMV office. I walked in without an appt, took a number, was called up in 5-7 minutes, and walked out 15 minutes later (fingerprints are taken by the DMV person....(!!)). Application cost $41. Now, I wait 5-7 weeks until I get a letter after which I go back to get a picture taken, pay $30 more and get the permit in the mail. (A temp. permit is issued after your pic is taken.) I think the permit is good for 5 years. Last edited by Lives_In_Fresno; 05-28-2015 at 6:34 PM.. |

Dad lives in Las Vegas so when going to Nevada would be nice to carry. Oh well |

I did my 1st interview. Much different than I thought, I was kind of nervous but it was very painless. The guy who I dealt with was very nice.

Fast in and out really Also the day you get you approval letter be sure to call and schedule your second ... That is if you know your going to do your CCW class right away. There is a few week gap for that as well. I lost about a week not thinking about that. Good luck, you should get that approval in about a week or so from now |

You bet ... keep us updated.
Question ... Have you taken you CCW class yet? If not you know many local ranges etc. have CCW classes ... none are as good as Steve Collins class at Foothill Firearms Training in Squaw Valley and it is half the cost of local training (most classes are up to $100 locally ... his is $50) ... Plus if you need to add a gun you can come and qualify for free with any gun you ever want to add to your permit. Let me know if you want any further information ... from Clovis it;s maybe a 45 minute or so drive but a very nice scenic drive at that and the training and outside atmosphere is so nice and relaxed you will won't enjoy your training as much in a stuffy classroom ... and most local classes are 8 hours when you only need 6 with sheriff, so your spending an extra 2 hours in there for nothing really (They do that cause PD is 8 hours) .... it;s hard enough to fit a class into 6 hours let a lone 8. Anyway just wanted to make yo aware of this option. MANY local Fresno guys have gone up an taken his class and loved it ... he normally has like every Saturday from 10-6. Steve is very well known in the valley and highly regarded trainer. He used to be the CCW instructor for The Range for years but is now doing his own thing. He is on the Sheriff's approved list of course as well too. If you on Facebook here is his page, tell him Chris Imes sent you .......... https://www.facebook.com/pages/Footh...13821158762936 https://www.facebook.com/pages/Footh...877215?fref=ts Here is his website ... he just had it created a couple weeks ago so still a bit buggy and not done yet ..... http://foothilltraining.com/ Let me know if you have any questions. Nice!!! Be sure to call right away now and schedule your second interview / livescan if you plan on doing your CCW class in the next week or two. Sooner you call the sooner you can get it done. (mine was about 2 odd weeks out).

Seriously ... He just want's to know that you can shoot it, know how to use it and can hit the huge 24x18 is all. I just shot a mag a piece for a couple minutes then I was done. VERY easy and relaxed, you don't have to run drills like 2 mags in 45 seconds at 15 yards, 2 mags 7 yards in 30 seconds, 2 mags at 3 yards in 15 seconds type of stuff .... He just needs to know you can use the gun, shoot a mag in the silhouettes chest and your done. Saves you even more money on Ammo cause other local ranges etc. want 50 rounds Per gun to qualify. I would have had to shoot 150 rounds of ammo to get my 3 guns on the permit ... I only shot 28 rounds and I was done. Though I did shoot a few more mags cause he spent time after helping with shooting and some hands on lessons as well. If you want a relaxed laid back CCW class Steve is the guy to go too ... you get SO much more for your money and it's SO easy with him as opposed to a local range. Plus it's only $50 and a 50 minutes scenic drive ... he has a nice piece of land in the foothills for training ... and he just got steel targets and a dueling tree as well which should be even more to shoot while up there. You won't regret it ...and he normally has a class often on Saturdays ... Hit him up and he will take care of you. Last edited by falconman515; 06-08-2015 at 8:15 PM.. |

He does say keep shooting for fun if you want and he is willing to answer questions as well while shooting if you are new and want a little extra training. Fast, easy, laid back and fun ... can't ask for more from a CCW class! |
