Win 94 Barrel shorten. N. Co SD / Newport Beach?

Hi all, looking for a gunsmith to cut down a barrel on a beater Winchester 94, bought especially for this. I need the barrel / Mag tube shortened then the barrel band moved, and a new dovetail cut for front sight. I'm in North Co San Diego, but work in Newport Beach so anywhere around in / around SD/ OC or inland Empire will work, I just want a decent guy doing it. I've tried a local place but just talking to the gunsmith he said a few things that didn't sound right. This was my "Go-to" place and I'm pretty disappointed the guy tried to BS/over charge me (the price suddenly dropped $150 just after one comment, but was still expensive). I've heard, over the years, of a guy in Fallbrook who's a lever gun expert but I can't find any contact for him. I'm sure it's not that hard a job but I don't have tools or one time skills to do it.

Any help appreciated, old school machinist guy would be perfect..

Many "old beater" 94s are worth considerably more than one imagines.

Thanks both. It’s a poor condition early 1970’s rifle. So sadly not much value. That’s why I bought it as a project gun. I have a couple of pre-64’s a Ranger, another slightly better condition mid 70’s and a later trapper. Beaters are even expensive now!

Kewl, As a "junior member" with 3 posts. I was just trying to be helpful.

Sorry don't know any OC smiths. At one time "Bolsa Gunsmithing" had an excellent rep. But haven't done business with them since the 1980s. And recent opinions have been downhill.

Randall aka "ar15barrels" here on CG is perfectly capable of the work you need. He is in Van Nuys and he works while you watch by appointment only.

It's appreciated, sorry if my reply sounded pissy, it really wasn't meant that way.

I did search a few times here and ar15barrels came up alot, I was hoping for closer and/or someone would know of the Fallbrook guy I used to hear about, maybe he's not around anymore..?
