Default Disaster Info: filters!

Make sure to have backup air filters for your vehicles and home ac units.

Many places sold out of air filters for vehicles in our area, post fire

Also consider reusable/washable filters such as a K&N for your car.

You do need to have the oil to "renew" them after a proper washing, but a small can of oil provides quite a few renewals, and in a pinch you could get away with a substitute, or no oil at all, for at least long enough for a bug-out.

K&N filters are garbage. They let more silicates through than disposable filters. And they get worse over time since the fibers stretch out from use and cleaning.

This is why I stopped using them years ago. I told a Wix rep I was using them on my truck to get higher air flow. He told me you get higher air flow because they have bigger holes and let more crap through with the extra air. That said, it may not be a bad thing to have on hand for SHTF where you may need something renewable.
