Default Gun Show this weekend at Ford Idaho Center in Nampa

Big gun show this weekend (june 5 & 6) at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa.

I'll be there in search of 5-round mags for my M1a.

Last several shows have been really good, hoping for the same.

Silhouette match on Saturday, so I'll be going to the gun show on Sunday. Not really looking for anything in particular, but a nice Winchester '94 carbine in 38-55 is on my wish list.

Springfield Armory has them, but they are $39/each.

Say, is that silhouette nra rules? I note that Gem Gun Club has the competition every month but there is no contact number for more info. Would like to bring a rifle and pistol next month.

Thanks my friend! I've got 20s and a few 10s as well, but need some 5s because they fit flush for hunting (going retro with my m1a and m1 garand for spring bear!)

Hope to see you this weekend!

Yes, and they report your score to the NRA so you can keep your card current. I'll be going to the nationals next month in Raton NM, and I need all the practice I can get!!! Levergun silhouette is always the first Saturday of every month at Black's Creek (skipping July), alternating between pistol and rifle cartridge. This Saturday is rifle cartridge, followed by smallbore (.22).

The Gem County match is also levergun, but more casual. They do not report your scores to the NRA, but do follow NRA rules.

Thanks for the info! I shall try to make it to GEM next month.

Best of luck at nationals!

Not all 5 rounders are flush. You're looking for the "sporter" variant.

Thanks for the important info! I did not know this.

I'd prefer the sporter version but would be ok if the mag sticks out a little.

There was a vendor at the last Nampa gun show that had many mags at good prices - hope he has the sporter.

Thumbs up

I was hoping to make the show, but between me and neighbors around 40 acres of hay were cut this week. So dammit, I've been working as long as it's light outside. Raking and baling will be done by Sunday afternoon and I will be fried by then.

Enjoy the show.

What I grow is for wife's horses... She'll estimate what she needs between now and the next cutting around the beginning of August. Excess goes on Craigslist and the phone rings off the hook. Cows pretty much eat anything, horses not so much.

Hold out for the sporter version if you're gonna hunt with it. I have both, as well as 10 and 20 round magazines. You definitely want the flush one for carrying about. I'd sell you mine, but I use it.

There is a guy there that sells some Korean 20 round knock-offs. Is that the guy you two are talking about? I never noticed 5 round magazines on his table, but then again I wasn't looking for them.

Big, the display I saw last show was on the ground floor and it was quite large. There were lots of mags there of various makes. I picked up some m1 garand mags and some m1 carbine mags from him. I don't recall the name but his prices were very reasonable. I did not think to check for 5 round m1a mags but I will this time, for the sporter version as you advised.

Not sure Big. I bought HK MP5 mags from him and an HK factory mag coupler. He had bought out a large police agencies supply of HK weapons mags and accessories.
My buddy bought some usgi m1a 20 rounders from him, but they werenít korean, they were BRW stamped.

There is a dude there occasionally selling fake colt 20 and 30 round m16/AR mags. I called him out in it.

Great show today. Found this gem. Iíve been searching for one of these for ever in this condition. Itís an unissued Vietnam era woodsmans pal type IV survival ax. It still has the rubberized edge protection in place. A hundred bucks brought it home and i couldnít pay him fast enough.

The guy thinks he may have the OD canvas sheath for it as well and am going to hook up next week to try and find it. Absolutely mint condition for a surplus mil issue survival tool. Very happy. Lots of decent deals there today on new and used guns.

Congrats on winning the match! There are some fine shooters in this valley and winning a match is quite impressive.

There are some nice looking vintage lever actions on your left as soon as you enter the show, including a 38-55. Attached a picture of it for you.

Sorry Dano, I only took one pic of a 38-55 lever posted previously. Next show, just let me know what you would like to see and I'll make sure to include them!

Doesn't Checkmate make the OEM mags OP? I've ordered 20's from them and they were aces.

Plenty 5's in stock: https://checkmatemagazines.com/produ...-m1a-magazine/

Everything else OOS.

Thanks for the link, AC.

Since starting this thread, I've learned that the Sporter "flush fit" 5 round M1a mag is most desirable for hunting. I've got two of them backordered from Springfield Armory. Some vendors at the show had five-round mags but they were not Sporters.

Thank you, and thanks for the pic.

If I'm not mistaken, the table you mention belongs to an older gentleman, and he is one of the show promoters/organizers. Nice fellow, very knowledgeable, and has some nice stuff. Made me a good deal on a '94 in 25-35 a while back. The gun to photographed is a Marlin, and they are nice, actually very nice, rifles. I just happen to be bitten by the Winchester bug.

I went to the show yesterday, and had a pretty good time. I looked for 5 round flush magazines for you, Rotnguns, just in case you missed any. Found some 5 rounders from the "gun clips" guy somewhere in the middle of the show, but they weren't flush fit (you probably saw those.... ). I'll keep my eye out for you, and send you a PM if I see any.

The show was pretty good - lots of stuff to see, from pistols to shotguns to militaria. Not as big as the last show, but still a lot of guns and gun stuff to peruse.

Deal of the day: Federal large rifle benchrest primers for $5/100. The guy had seven packs, and since I am flush with primers I pointed them out to my buddy, who snatched them all up. Don't know how those lasted until mid0-day Sunday.

I went to the show looking for three things - a front sight hood for my Marlin 39A, a set of .45 Colt dies, and a Winchester '94 carbine in 38-55. Didn't find any of those...... but I did find a revolver I didn't know I wanted until I saw it - a Cimarron/Uberti Cattleman copy of a Colt SAA with custom maple grips, chambered in .45LC. Brand new in the box, "regulated" by the dealer with test targets included. That one came home with me. And, in a little bit of serendipity, About an hour before I found the gun I had seen a nicely tooled custom holster for a single action but passed it by...... so with the new gun in-hand I went back for a trial fit and eventual purchase.

All in all, a decent day. Still looking for the sight hood and dies, if anyone has them......

Thanks for keeping an eye out for the sporter mags! Good that you and your friend found great items to purchase. Sometimes the finds you make when you are not looking are the most fun!

One thing I forgot to mention..... primer prices, in general, seems to be coming down. $100/$110 a thousand was pretty common., but there were still holdouts with $150/$175 a thousand.

That was Utah Philís last show of the year in Boise. Heís scheduled for a bunch in the SW for the rest of the year. As always he had an enormous amount for new guns for sale at best prices youíll find anywhere.
Even the hard to find HKmk23. I didnít buy anything from him this show but swung by to say high.

I know you guys like the newer stuff, but I want a little old-school this time.

LOL. I had found that holster in a box of holsters, about an hour or so before I found the gun. I recognized the holster to be for a single action revolver but I didn't need it, so I passed and moved on.

Further wandering led me to the revolver pictured. I handled the gun, told the vendor I would think it over, and then went back to his table before I left to negotiate. With the gun now in hand I remembered the holster, so I went back, test fit the gun to the holster, and made the deal.

Serendipity.
