You must not know a lot of cops.

That's why it was imperative that I secured that determination before we proceeded. The department's opinion is that it is not a handgun.

In not sure how many times or how many ways I need to say that before it sinks in. Title 1 is NOT a handgun.

Go Franklin Go! Thank you for financially, physically, and legally showing the lunacy ("enough to make an angel swear") of CA firearms/AW laws.

Would the state allow for a stripped lower to be registered as a Title 1?

There is CURRENTLY no registration possible in CA as Title 1 or "other".
If the system were changed to allow the transfers and registrations of Title I or "other" firearms, then it would be possible.

It bums me out threads like this turn into recruits trying to make multiple arguments for the state of CA on why we shouldn't be able to get this. Christ knows how often forums like this actually provided CA with a heads-up on new legislation to hate on us...

Whether or not we get this rifle sent to us is one thing.

I do not think they'd waste time and money by not doing their due diligence.

The fact that they're trying has me onboard and a new customer for life. A lot of companies just say "Eff CA" and abandon us.

So I see that the DROS Entry System was last updated on 11/7/19 (2.0.0.5). Any word on whether the most recent update included UAE as country of birth or added "other" as an option? Doubtful, but thought worth asking...

Just got confirmation from our counsel that CADOJ is still planning on fixing the "other" option on DES. That's better than having to sue them at least.

"When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east," said Mirri Maz Duur. "When the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leaves. When your womb quickens again, and you bear a living child. Then DOJ will add 'other' to the DROS system, and not before."

I don't trust them, but it would be nice to be pleasantly surprised. I'm expecting y'all to end up in court.

Did they give you a general timeline? Or could they say they are in the process of changing it over but never actually do it?

"2 weeks" is a running joke from back in 2005 when people were saying the DOJ was going to ban the "bullet button" type magazine catches that allowed the whole off-list-lower phenomenon.
It took them until 2016 to actually change the law.

I don't know who considers it a running joke. Most people here seemed to think that when they said around 2 weeks it was gonna be around 2 weeks.

They said that they were actively working on it. Other people inside the department have expressed how convoluted their government system works, so who knows how long it will take. Either way, the clock for the claim is already ticking.

I believe this issue has been handled my dealer dros'ed me a AK receiver on Friday and I was verbally given confirmation that it was dros'ed as a other... I specifically told him I did not want it as a pistol or as a rifle and he said that was not a problem from his drop down menu...?

Don't need a photo. ask for a copy of your pending DROS (or completed one if on delivery). I don't see it.. So I am curious what he was referring to.

Main Menu still only has

Hand Gun Transactions

Long Gun Transactions

as the 2 main headings.. Under Long Gun Transactions I see no "other" option for gun type. I still see Rifle, Rifle/Shottie, Shottie... no other..

This.

They always give you a copy of the dros and it will clearly say what it was Drosed as.

Sounds like he didn’t give you a copy. If he didn’t- this speaks volumes.

Verbal doesn’t mean sheet.

Wonder what he really drosed it as?

Since,as the FFL has posted that it looks like there is still no “other” option available in the system at this time.
