BBRAW: Rifle markings covered after cerakoting
I have a VEPR .308 that is registered in CA as a BBRAW. I had to have it sent to the builder, Krebs Custom in IL, as it needed more custom work. I had it cerakoted at his shop while the work was being done there.
Unfortunately, the markings other than the serial number on the rifle were not engraved, as is usual in all of Molot VEPR rifles, and the make, model, etc. got covered under the cerakote. Now it is sitting safely with me here in NV, but someday I'd like to shoot it again in CA, which was the main reason it was registered with CA-DOJ. Question: Is it prudent to have the original make, model and caliber engraved over the cerakote to match the submitted pictures before I ever take it back into the state? The CA-DOJ approval letter is already in my hands.

I'd say it's a damn good idea, and I'd be a bit pi##ed that they covered all that info. Especially since serial number's can and are quite often on other gun's from different manufacturer's.
I can't count the number of time's a serial number is run for a gun and it comes back as stolen, but to a different make than what was ran. |
