Default Swampfox Optics --- Arrowhead 1-10 --- very nice scope

So I ended up buying the Swampfox Arrowhead scope after watching a video review of it by Ilya, aka the Dark Lord of Optics. I have followed Ilya's reviews for a while and I appreciate the detail he provides. I have also never been disappointed with anything Ilya has recommended.

I am certainly not qualified to review scopes myself, but I have owned/used many different brands of scopes, as well as different levels of cost/quality. My high-end would be the NF ATACR, and my low end would would be a super-cheap Bushnell from from Big 5 (I regretted that one). Lots of scopes in between, including Vortex, Leupold and Sightron, etc.

I had never even heard of Swampfox before I saw Ilya's review, and I do not have any affiliation with them (or with any other scope company).

Bottom line is that I really like this Arrowhead scope. I got the 1-10 model and I think it is a fantastic option for the money.

The glass is clear and bright.
The eye box is very easy to get behind at all power levels.
The MOA reticle is perfect for my application.
The illumination is very visible, even in daylight.
The turrets lift and lock and have nice crisp clicks.
The focus ring on the eyepiece was easy for me to adjust for my eye.
And a little side-note: The box and packaging are as nice as I have ever seen.

Again, I am not a scope expert, but I wanted to write a "review" on the Arrowhead so others might become aware of it.

I hope people will give Swampfox a chance -- I am quite surprised at how much I like my 1-10 Arrowhead.

By the way, if you want to see a real review, check out Ilya's video.

i took the Arrowhead out to the range for the first time yesterday and it performed great. I know it is just one visit, but I consider this one a keeper.

Are these Chinese scopes?

I don't have anything against China but their glass quality sucks.

This glass quality is fine. Not NF but the glass quality is fine.

Not pro or against China but their glass is getting significantly better now

I wouldn't be so quick to discount it.

I got these images from welikeshooting.com. No commentary just a straight side by side comparison of various LPVO's against the Swampfox Arrowhead. The images speak for themselves.

Here is a funny review they did as well. It shows the durability of the optic.

Seems like the Chinese optics companies are gaining ground then.

I personally dont like ffp in a lvpo. I do like it in higher magnification scopes. I like sfp so the reticule is always usable even if battery dies. Some ffp reticle are too small on 1x without the illumination

It's my understanding one of the main reticle designers at Swampfox Optics is from PrimaryArms now.

I have a PrimaryArms optic as well and the Swampfox Arrowhead glass is significantly better. At least between the two I have. But it's not an apple to apple comparison because my PA is not an LPVO.

It's going to be interesting to see what they do over the next few years.

I agree with everything the OP has listed in favor of the Swampfox Arrowhead. I went with the 1-8x and BDC guerrilla reticle. I also went with their own brand of scope mount which has held up quite well so far. Overall a very good experience with this being my first LPVO.

The pic above helps a lot, thanks. I'm trying to decide between an Arrowhead 1-6 or Burris RT-6.

Definitely leaning that way.

Referencing the pic above, at 1x the Arrowhead does look better than the MTAC

At 1x (which is where my lvpos spend most of their time) the Gov is better than the primary arms platinum scopes and the vortex razors).

The 1x8 actually has better fov than the 1x6 arrowhead by a tiny bit for some reason

It's got my attention. I've been hearing good things about it. I have a better optic, but it's a 1-4x. Kinda hard to try to shoot tight groups at 100 yard with that. At least for me.

If you compete in 3-gun, you're limited to 4X optics. With the SFP 10X Arrowhead, you have to sight in at 10X. So when you quickly throw from 1X to 4X in competition, you won't hit what you're aiming at, because you aren't allowed to crank it to 10X. That's why FFP is better IMHO.

Oh that makes sense. In that case 100% makes sense

Wonder if 6x and your own distance dope sheet solves that? Or mrad reticule (though still gotta use both at 6x)

Man that WLS video was freaking hilarious. Was expecting very bad things when he pulled out the shotgun and I did not realize the optic was hanging from the target dummy.

Anyone know if that WLS Code expires? It was posted quite awhile ago.

Dumb question: The WLC video shows the product on Amazon, but I don’t believe there’s a promo code place is there? Maybe I’m blind.

Yeah, like 9mmContagion said, go directly to SwampfoxOptics.com and order there. You'll be able to put in your coupon code during the checkout process. Click on edit cart and there will be a link to add coupon code.

Unfortunately, non-Chinese optics are a bit out of reach, financially, for many people these days.

I've been looking at their scopes as well, they look pretty solid quality. I'm seriously looking at purchasing one of their products. I'm building a new AR15 - 16" barrel, WC 300 Ham'r caliber, which will be used for hunting hogs and possibly home defense. Most likely for hunting in the 10-100 yard range. I've been looking at LPVO (like 1-8 range) and also Swampfox's 1x and 3x prism scopes.

I'm getting older (52) and eyes are NOT as good as they used to be. I do wear glasses only for reading. Here's my problem I'm having... ALOT of these scopes today, not just Swampfox, but alot of other brands seem to make the reticles so small. Especially in the 1x, 3x, 5x, fixed magnifications. They usually have some type of BDC - which the reticles are so small I cant really see the BDC's

I'm at a loss when the reticles are so small (remember, I'm NOT talking about a variable optic, just fixed low powered optics) WHY NOT MAKE THEM LARGER? I'm sure there's an explanation for this, but I can't understand. Maybe just for younger eyes??? Just a side note, I know this reticle is used for close quarters and has been shot out to 200+ yards, which is a possibility that I'd want to have. This reticle is a perfect example.

How big do you need it?

Those circle dot reticles are designed so you can 'bracket' the target at close range and press and repeat.

I understand what you're saying. But can you honestly say you can see the different BDC points from this reticle? I CANT at all.

Oh you’re talking about the drop hash marks? They have to be small because you’re talking about 5, 9, etc moa drops. And those scale at range so at 1x, they’re going to be small.
