Default 2020 AB-2206 Firearms: concealed carry.

http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/fa...01920200AB2206

Allows local jurisdictions to setup concealed carry reciprocity for people with out of state concealed carry permits.

Please help!

The following links are to a web form that allows contacting the members. I also listed their office numbers.
Except for the chair and vice chair, you have to use the city and zip for the web form to work, I put them below.

They ask for name, address, email, and so on, I think it's fine to use a pseudonym if you want. There is no checking that I know of.

I give some sample messages to send below.

Why not make it statewide allowing each county to approve or disapprove is asking for trouble. how many people will be caught in problems because they are on the wrong side of the street when carrying.

This is for an out of state permittee. AFAIK a CA issued CCW permit is valid statewide (i.e. all counties)

Cool.

Initially I took this as a potential moot opportunity for carry cases appearing before SCOTUS.

Then I read this was proposed by 2 R state senators.

Agree with 9Cal - DoA.

What he means is, what if County A grants reciprocity to an out of state CCW but County B across the street doesn't?

DOA...no doubt.

Anyone visiting the PRC still has the judged-by-12 v. carried-by-6 choice to make when they cross the border.

Ca ccw's are good throughout the state, but there are still a few counties I wouldn't carry in. Fortunately I can avoid those places for the most part.

Pretty much the Bay Area counties, I'd guess.

For me, L.A. city.

Is it that LA county does not recognize a CCW as a valid document?

They do. For the fear of spreading FUD, I should be clear,

Permit is valid statewide except restrictions listed. I think Norcalplinker and I made the point of not carrying in certain areas as you might be hassled than if you were in a CCW-friendly county.

Like SF, they may check your ammo, verify license, unload it, etc. Whereas other counties may not care during a traffic stop. JMO

I'd take the chance of being delayed than to need it and not have it!

My personal philosophy is: carry always, (unless it's not legal).

Or in other words they don't respect your permit even though they are supposed to. Yes I get the state says your permit is valid in the entire state but allows rouge counties and cities to operate with impunity.

Why would they check your ammo?

City / County of San Francisco Police Code ordinance Section 618 bans the carry of some types of hollowpoint ammunition.
Quote:
SEC. 618. PROHIBITED AMMUNITION.
(a) Definition. For purposes of this Section, "Prohibited Ammunition" shall mean:
(1) Ammunition sold under the brand name "Winchester Black Talon," or that has physical properties resulting in ballistics performance identical to ammunition presently or formerly sold under the brand name Winchester Black Talon; or,
(2) Ammunition designated by its manufacturer for purchase by law enforcement or military agencies only, unless other ammunition is available to the general public that has physical properties resulting in ballistics performance identical to such ammunition.[...]

(d) Police Database. The San Francisco Police Department shall prepare or cause to be prepared a public database of brands and product lines of ammunition meeting the definition of "Prohibited Ammunition" in subsection (a). Failure of the Police Department to create or maintain such a database, or the omission from the database of a particular brand or product line of ammunition otherwise qualifying as "Prohibited Ammunition," under subsection (a), shall not be a defense to or otherwise excuse a violation of this Section.

Some years back I met Lee Baca, and asked him what he thought of residents from other California counties carrying concealed firearms in his jurisdiction; he didn't want to address the issue, but couldn't deny that it was common. I also know for certain that Charlie Beck was no fan of an armed citizenry. Typical liberals.
The proposed bill isn't going anywhere; it will be gutted and amended. No California governor would ever agree to sign such legislation.
