Escondido metals does have pre-made head and full torso silhouette targets. I believe they are both 3/8" AR500. They don't have any mounting/stand system with them, so you'll have to fab your own. There is a water jet company nearby that I have used to put 1/2" carriage bolt holes in the corners. Just weld up an "H" base or build a wood A frame to hang it on. I think the torso sized are selling for $140.

They also have an 18" x 26" silhouette. Any reason to go with 1/2" over 3/8", seeing as they are both AR500? |

Perhaps longevity. The 1/2" would likely have a longer life but you'll get plenty of life out of the 3/8". The exception here is if you intend to shoot something like 50 BMG at it. You should definitely get the 1/2" for a big rifle caliber like that.

Okay, got a swingin' deal - 7 targets for about $80, one of which was 1/2".
Was not expecting them to be so dirty. Should I just blow the dust off them and spray with Rustoleum, or do I need to do any other prep? |

They have a deal that if you get 4 rounds, all 3/8" thick (1 x 10", 1 x 8", 1 x 6", 1 x 4") for about $70, you get three more for an additional $10, one of which is a 1/2" thick. No brackets. I stopped at Home Depot and got 2 x sawhorse brackets, 4 x 2x4s (each 4' long), and some hardware at Marshall's (heavy duty chain, grade 8 bolts, etc.). http://www.marshallshardware.com/ Spent about $200 total, but I think this is going to last a while. |

I wouldn't waste much time in prep. Shooting them will take the paint right off anyway. Give them a quick hose down. Let them dry in the sun. And then hit them with a rattle can in the color of your choice. To that end, if you have a black front sight post, paint them anything other than black.

Our system is VERY reactive and has the best sound because the target is mounted by a single bolt. We offer a 10% discount to all Calguns members code: CALGUNS10 I can have them at your door in Cali in about 3 to 5 days.
