There's two for me.
The first one is the first gun my mom ever gave me, this Raven 25acp. The second one on the list is one that I bought last year. I just happened to get a Savage B17 from GoG and it showed up at the dealer on 11/17. They called me the next day and said that I can come over anytime to start the DROS. So I went in after work and started the DROS on 11/18. Earliest pick up would be 11/28. Well 11/18 is my dad's birthday and 11/28 is my mom's birthday. Great way to remember both of them. I lost Pop just over 3 years ago and Mom last September. Both of these are going to my oldest nephew when I pass. Sent from my motorola one action using Tapatalk |

When they stop getting used, they get sold.
They have no more sentimental value to me than my car does. What I do keep is one or two from whatever division I shoot in USPSA matches, so one or two Productio, Limited, Carry Optics, Pistol Caliber Carbine, and a single stack in each useful caliber (9mm, .40 S&W, & .45ACP). Also some military surplus guns I shoot, Garand, M1 Carbine, M1903, M1917, and M1911A1. |

LOL. I have the Browning-labeled version of that gun that I never shoot, and I can't decide if I would regret selling it or not.

Not me. I've sold several dozen in my life. I'm not a collector, so if I don't enjoy shooting a gun...it's gone to help pay for something that I do enjoy shooting. I'm not rich enough to regret no longer owning something I didn't enjoy.

I’ve sold over a Dozen over the years, almost always to upgrade. There are 2 that don’t get sold . My son has dibs on my 90s vintage Colt Stainless Delta Elite. My keeper is my 1st gun. A 1964 vintage Remington Nylon 66, Apache black & chrome... but what I still have, I cherish.

I bought a 1980's Browning Hi-Power from a co-worker many years ago. He sold it to me dirt cheap and I threw in a KFC dinner as big thank you. LOL. This gun was and still is beautiful and not shot very much. I would never sell this. It always reminds me of the great times we spent together at work and having a blast outside of it. Wow time flies.

At this point, I’ll probably hold onto all of them
But my first was a CZ 75b. Very unlikely to part with it ever. It’s showing it’s age, too, but I can’t part with it. Still shoots really nice. All stock. I love her. |

I was 11 y/o and with my Dad at a gun show at the San Mateo County Fairgrounds in 1975 when he bought this NIB Colt SSA second generation 'Stagecoach' in .45 Long Colt for $400.
The box has some wear but the revolver has never been fired and is still 100% NIB; no cylinder ring and no marks on the hammer...

If I sell them I got the money. Now after I pass if my children sells my guns they will get a crisp $100 bill and think they got a great deal.
Now my wife is very brand conscious. She'll keep the Colts and sell the others for retail plus |

I have two...
One is an old model convertible 4 5/8 in barrel Blackhawk in 45LC/ 45ACP that my dad carried carried since it was new. The other is his S&W model 39 that he also bought new and carried until the day he died in 2018. I plan on doing the same and handing them down to my kids when I die. Both we used while training across the united states in teaching crime scene investigation and reconstruction courses since 1979. They are the epitome of working tools and were never babied but were respected and have been used to defend lives, ridden the range and trained thousands of people. I cherish every single scratch, dent and wear mark.

Two Henry rifles: Golden Boy and Big Boy (357). I acquired both in a special offer from Henry that I can choose my own Serial Number. Both rifles had Serial Number are "My name 01 and 02"
I already told my heir that, he can sell all of my guns but those two. Last edited by newbie1234; 07-01-2021 at 9:34 PM.. |

Twenty years ago, I did some political work that favored Trader Sports in San Leandro. The owner liked what I was doing and offered a salary but I declined saying it would make the issue about him and not guns.
When it was over, he wanted to do right by me and I said I'd had a long term hankering for a Walther P88 Compact. He said he could do that and two weeks later, he did: brand new, in the box, spare magazine, and a case of PMC 124 FMJ to feed it with. Cost to me: zero. After that, Tony and I became friends and sadly, he died some five years ago. I still have the pistol and given the way I got it and the sentiment attached to the deal, I will never let it go.

Not trying to brag, but most on here know I have a few nice old guns. I like all that I have and would have a real tough time getting rid of any of them.
But, I do have a couple that hold some special memories for me either due to my history with them or the fact that I wanted them for so many years. The first is this 1959 vintage Model 29-no dash that I bought back around 1980 and have carried on many a hike and hunting trip. Second would be my 1917 Colt 1911. Last is a tough call but I think it would be my 1958 Polish Type 3 AK.

The first gun that I ever bought in 2016 - Glock 22 Gen 3... Which I exclusively practiced with at the beginning (yeah that gritty/mushy Glock trigger that many complain about)...
And the first gun that I used in competition a year or two later - my first Glock 34 Gen 3... Nothing really special about these firearms except for the memories... _ |

I won’t deny that there are very cool firearms with provenance and people appropriately become attached to them. At the same time, I feel like people forget guns are just tools and should treat them so.

With that in mind, one could still have a last tool they’d part with. Just because its the last one, doesn’t mean you have an emotional connection to it. Value is subjective.

Dad's old S&W Military and Police 38 Special w/ 4-inch barrel. Was given to him around 1959 by a cousin who was a deputy sheriff in the "deep South" in the 1950's.
That revolver saw some critical action in its time. Priceless family firearm. |
