Florida?

Has anyone applied for their chl for florida in the last 6 months?

How long was the wait? Did you do livescan or FD-258?


Asking so I know what the time line is.

Not in the last 6 month, but four years ago it took 33 days from the time they received the package to the time they issued a license. I received it 5 days later.

Livescan is CA-only thing. FD-258 is the only way. I went to a local PD, it was something like $20 or $25.

Well last I check you can do livescan for florida they just need the livescan number. Well guess I just send it off see what the wait is like.

I did mine around 5 years ago with the same 55 day timeframe

Somebody school me. If one has an Arizona permit, why bother with Florida, unless one is travelling to Florida? The only state the FL permit adds is FL.

You are correct....

Also, if someone has say an Arizona CWP and intends on moving there in the near future (same for Utah CFP) then I would not bother with Florida, because once you move and become a resident of the state that issued your permit (AZ/UT) you will then be good to go for Florida without the Florida permit.

Very hard to find an LE agency that will do fingerprints right now because of covid, so I wouldn’t even bother with Florida for the time being. Better get an Az CCW they don’t care who does your prints

It took me 2 days to make and appointment with my local PD. I just received my permit with DD214.

Really? I called all the police departments and sheriffs departments in two different cities and was told that Covid regulations now prevent them from doing fingerprints

San Fernando PD. Here in Los Angeles was open the whole time during covid.
