Default Hawaii Seeks To Ban .50 Cal And Above

Too many “high caliber” guns in Hawaii it would seem.

This is not like California’s 50 BMG ban, only affecting one type of .50 caliber guns/ammo. Hawaii will be making your S&W 500s and Desert Eagles verboten, and (as written) 12-gauge shotguns as well.

And, why should they stop at .50 caliber? In the future, like Mexico, soon they would only see fit in you having .22 LR and maybe .38 Special.

Two bills: Senate Bill 307 (Karl Rhoads, D-13) and House Bill 251 (Linda Ichiyama, D-32)...

https://capitol.hawaii.gov/measure_i...=307&year=2021

https://capitol.hawaii.gov/measure_i...=251&year=2021

Emphasis, mine:

Quote:
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The legislature finds that the State has some of the strongest gun safety laws in the nation, and in 2019 Hawai‘i received an A-minus rating from the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence. Additionally, Hawai‘i had the third lowest number of gun deaths per capita among the states in 2019, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The legislature is committed to protecting the safety and well-being of its citizens. The fact that Hawai‘i still allows any firearm or rifle with the capacity to fire ammunition of fifty caliber or higher is inconsistent with this commitment. The purpose of this Act is to prohibit any firearm or rifle with the capacity to fire ammunition of fifty caliber or higher.

SECTION 2. Section 134-8, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (a) to read as follows:

"(a) The manufacture, possession, sale, barter, trade, gift, transfer, or acquisition of any of the following is prohibited: assault pistols, except as provided by section l34-4(e); automatic firearms; rifles with barrel lengths less than sixteen inches; shotguns with barrel lengths less than eighteen inches; any firearm or rifle with the capacity to fire ammunition of fifty caliber or higher; cannons; mufflers, silencers, or devices for deadening or muffling the sound of discharged firearms; hand grenades, dynamite, blasting caps, bombs, or bombshells, or other explosives; or any type of ammunition or any projectile component thereof coated with [teflon] Teflon or any other similar coating designed primarily to enhance its capability to penetrate metal or pierce protective armor; and any type of ammunition or any projectile component thereof designed or intended to explode or segment upon impact with its target."

SECTION 3. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.

SB 307 Hawaii JDC testimony begins at 49:00.

Gun control is a religion for those types. They don’t care about the facts or the logic, they just want to ban anything that they emotionally believe is blameworthy.

I think they look at our Second Amendment rights like a big block of stone that they want to chisel away at constantly in anyway that they can. Every gun the van is a little closer to the masterpiece of a disarm society they would like to create

Now how about all those tweakers with those rusty knife’s?

Don’t suppose there are many murders with 50 caliber guns in Hawaii

Hawaii also requires gun registration and then they add you to the nationwide FBI watchlist.
Haven't been there since they passed that insult and will never visit again .

Hawaii is a waste of good ocean.

Fifty caliber? How big is that? Considering caliber is defined as the diameter of a bullet or rifle barrel expressed in thousandths of an inch and written as a decimal, ie: .50

With a current 10% unemployment rate and has high as 24% in April, I'm sure the 0.50 caliber firearm is the biggest problem Hawaii has right now.

Unemployment rates at all time highs; businesses closing forever at alarming rates; billions lost due to lost tourism; but 50 cal is their biggest issue right now? My guess is they have less than a handful on all the islands combined. Don't fret, the new crew on SCOTUS will help them out

Hawaii, to me, is like a foreign country.
Highly liberal.
Different culture.
People expect you to remove your shoes to come in.

Kind of like Puerto Rico when it becomes the 51st state.

We should have 49 states. If you can't drive there, it's not a state.

Heller said that arms in common use are protected - I still don’t understand why this isn’t sufficient to win in court.

So this means that muzzle loading rifles and muskets would be verboten as well, right? None of those 1861 Springfield .69 cals either!

I was thinking that Hawaii will have to give up the Missouri as a museum ship.

Political China Whores in America are just following orders to prepare the USA for invasion by disarmament of the population.

Why do people in America believe we will not have war on American soil again?
