7/300 Weatherby and RE25 with a 28 inch barrel will get you there as well.

Yeah I was looking at the 28 nosler. Never noticed a 7/300 Weatherby???

In any event this will be a relatively expensive prospect.
This will be my F class open rifle. and I really like the BC on the197gr SMK

Thanks for the minor derail guys and the advice,

28 Nosler might be more capacity than you need. The brass isn't cheap either.

If you're not a belt bigot, 7 practical (7-300wm) looks like it'll do what you want with a 28" barrel at pressures I get 10 loadings from Norma brass. Barrel life will be what it is for that velocity, bore, and bullet weight. Scaling from the only 300wm barrel the 30CC wore out, my guess is it'll clear 1000 round useful life.

either way you have to pay up.

28 Nosler brass $$$$ or buying a collet die for Belted cases??? I hate belted cases for precision shooting.

The $100 collet die puts you ahead a few bucks with the first 100 cases you buy even with Norma 300wm brass. With precision shooting brass prep, the extra sizing step isn't that big a deal.

I'm doing 7/338 Lapua wildcats to take advantage of the current big 7mm bullets, but don't have any illusions about them meeting your barrel life goal.

KCScott
The 7/300 Weatherby and the 7STW are basically ballistic twins.
The winningest cartridge in 1000 yard Benchrest is the 300 Ackley so don't worry about the belt as it's not a big concern. Primer pockets loosening up is a bigger problem.

Well this is a future build so i have time to figure it out. that 7/300 is looking better all the time. Nosler is damn proud of that brass $2.75 each, thats Cheytac brass prices.

300 Ackley?? Hummm 240gr SMK. i have a feeling that will suck for F class TR. getting hammered by a heavy magnum for 120+ rounds a weekend

Our 416 HSM will have about 25gr more capacity than regular

50bmg, and as for actions if you add up the fat bolt non-bmg

actions, with .750"- .800" bolts, there are about a dozen, some priced

pretty reasonable.

For 416 HSM we can use a EU made primer I have some of, that

is tamed down a little for smoother ignition, and its cup is harder

than CCI 35s , so we can go quite high pressures. Rigging up

hydraulics on my huge press for easier case shaping.

When few cases fireformed we'll have exact specs for reamer guys.Ed

Tonopah, NV 2-Mile Match Aug 24 - 26, 2017

The Tonopah 2-mile match is official and going forward.
Dates are August 24 to 26 (site zeros on the 23rd)
Got info from LRO site,

The Course of Fire is done and appears below. Couple of main points:
ranges 1,300, 1,600, 1,900, 2,200, 2,500, 2,800, 3,100, and 3,525.
The site is virtually flat, so slope is not an issue.....50 lb. maximum for rifles

NO weight limit for gear, but you and your team need to be able to move
it up onto the line in 2 - 3 minutes. No real limit to how the rifle is supported
(front rest is ok, so are bipods and/or, tripods) so are portable shooting tables.
You are allowed to obtain a site zero the day before the match starts,
all targets are all 36" x 36"

Mr Hubel
Are you rebating the rim of the 50 BMG case to fit into the smaller actions?
I think the 50 BMG boltface is 0.832 with a 0.804 rim and the next boltface down is Cheytac/Weatherby at around 0.640 inches at the rim with a 0.654 boltface?
Water capacity on the straight 50 BMG is around 295 grains and your case is 320? Or are you using powder?

Cap is 310 so far from fireformed case, the good bmg

cases are 285 gr, and got boxes of them.Absolute best

ones made, LC 87, never could wear them out

making my 700 HE

Rim is smaller than base so far .010" which isn't a rebate

as such, just an aid in reshaping/ wildcatting the case, Whole case

is slimmed down compared to bmg and the case will fit

in fat bolt actions smaller than bmg actions.

We just open bolt face a little, which for now

would be for .730" rim. Base is tentatively .740" so far.

But the reshaping doesn't take hardly any amount

away from inside space. And sides still plenty thick and strong.

It just makes a case with close to the proper shaped

and proportioned combustion chamber.

Not perfect but close..

Picture of that soon.Ed

Here is picture of our 416 HSM case sectioned next to original

BMG case on the right sectioned, to show that we still have

enough thickness in the sides to handle high pressure,

in a case with 310 gr capacity..We are getting the wildcatting

work set up so we can do couple hundred a month.

We still have thousands of 585s, 375HEs, 416 HEs, 408 HEs,,Ed

Here is comparison of our 416 target cases, 1st is 416 HE, which we have a whole bunch of.
Second is a model of what I'd have Bruce make on his medium machine, if I could, the
416 HE Long. Third is our 416 HSM which we are working on making by wildcatting
bmg cases, If I could for target use I'd also make 375 HE longer.. Ed..

Last years winner almost didn't make it past the first round on the second day. If Mitchell missed that fifth shot at 2011; then, Bryan wins.

That kind of clutch performance reminds me of someone I know.

Bryan Litz just recently shot 3 shot group at 2 miles using Paul
Phillips heavy barreled, target rifle built by Lethal Precision in
375 Lethal Mag(585HE necked down, very similiar to 375HE )...
It grouped 17.5 inches tall by 22 inches wide.

I understand that there was 2-3 times as many guys wanting
to try the 2 mile shoot at Whittington than there was openings for.
So check out Tonopah, NV 2-Mile Match Aug 24 - 26, 2017
Dates are August 24 to 26 (site zeros on the 23rd).. Ed

Wow...38" barrel, no barrel block, bipod, 0.6 MOA at 2 miles. Incredible.

Sounds like the stories of no practice were wildly exaggerated.
Sounds to me like they practiced for two days and will use that knowledge to there advantage over shooters who don't live there.

From the KO2M facebook page

Dear KO2M shooters and fans
I hope you are all getting ready and that your can get your R&D ready for the competition. Now that some teams are doing their final tuning , lets clarify once again the KO2M range training rule.

Just as reminder NOBODY has been allowed to shoot at the KO2M range and NOBODY WILL BE allowed to do so, prior to the actual competition.

It has come to my attention that there is some fuss about recent posts of a team training at NRA Whittington. They were NOT training at KO2M range.

We work in close relation with NRAWC crew and they are aware of this training limitation, and nobody has been allowed or has done so, that we know of.
Let me remind you , that NRAWC has another 2 miles range in the mountains where they host the NRAWC ELR courses. Not practical for a multi team competition but fine for a group of shooters. That range is absolutely legal to train at, in regards to KO2M rules.
The mountain targets at the 1000 yards line from any shooter´s position are NOT.
I hope this clarifies the issue.

If you can get to the training range and get your dopes you have a edge up.
If you can train there on a regular bases your edge up increases exponentially.
I like the part of not that we know of.
Too bad they don't pick a neutral location where nobody is shooting on a regular basis to try and eliminate the home field advantage.
