Got my Katadyn expedition filter in. Our water treatment preps are now set for our lifetime. I’ve used the katadyn pocket model for years and it’s awesome, but for large volumes nothing beats the expedition model.
This will be great for our overlanding trips too.

Helped my son finish his lower build...
He used my old compliance parts for the stock and grip, but he can upgrade when he knows what he wants, and we threw a CHEAP 16" upper on it.

(Lock coming in so he can keep it in his room, he's 19, but has a younger sibling...)

Better to have and not need, than to need and not have...

Nothing.
Either I've got it, or make do without at this point.

Made arrangements to have a transfer switch installed on my electric panel so we can hook up the generator/invertor directly to the box.

Installed door reinforcement locks to all exterior doors plus the interior door leading in from the garage. Added longer screws to the other door plates.
Worked out. 40mins of cardio.

Made 200 9mm parabellum and worked on gun handle in skills on a G19 with my 10 year old. Kid may have to cover me if I’m down.

That kid has COVID hair and looks like this:

Added another two weeks worth of wound treatment materials.

I was surprised how much material is used for home treatment of surgical wounds. It made me reassess my stocks. I am shooting for two months worth.

Can you please elaborate on this a bit?

I've bought I think 2, 24-packs (maybe 36-packs) of rolled gauze - Similar to this - - is that not enough?

So total, I've got about 50-60 rolls of gauze, 4" wide by 4 yards long.

Is that still not enough?

I realize "enough" varies drastically depending on the situation; but for a family of 4 to have a decent amount on hand for general SHTF / unrest like we've got now.

How much are YOU stocking to be "2 mo worth"?

Thanks!

Got everything on hand to butcher, hand/age and freeze an elk. Kill permit in hand waiting for the herd to show up. They were just here last week so likely won't be back for another week.

Was hoping for fresh elk tenderloins for Thanksgiving but time is running out.

Female products, one "plug"-case, and one "pad"-case...

We have one of each user in the home now, and the sterile "plugs" aren't be a bad idea for bullet wounds, nor are the sterile pads...

Received an order of a #10 can of dried eggs this month too, not to mention some dried veggies in sealed containers for augmenting vitamins..

Bought 4000 small and large pistol primers.

Still looking for some Biden chopsticks in case he makes it to the White House.
I don’t want to be short on chopsticks when he transforms America into communist China.

Spent $125 and bought 3500 misc. primers, 14 cans misc powder, over 2,000 assorted brass cases and 700 bullets from a neighbor lady down the street. She was cleaning out all reloading stuff of ex-husband before moving to Arizona.

If you are going to be prepared, you have to know which direction the incoming fire will be coming from. I read the Forward Observer. Here is a sample of today's briefing. The Democratic Marxist Left is in full "destroy America" mode.

POLITICAL WARNING

Incoming socialist and progressive politicians prepare to take office in January

Active Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) member, National Lawyers Guild (NLG) member, and Black Lives Matter (BLM) organizer Erika Ballou will soon be sworn in as a district court judge in Clark County, Nevada. The court is responsible for more than two million Nevada residents in the greater Las Vegas metropolitan area. A host of DSA-endorsed candidates like Ballou will be or have already assumed their roles at the state and local levels across the country. Ballou joins several progressive District Attorneys, such as Chicago’s Kim Foxx, St. Louis’s Kim Gardner, Mark Gonzalez in Corpus Christi, Monique Worrell in Orlando, Eli Savit in Ann Arbor, Austin’s José Garza, and George Gascòn in Los Angeles. (Analyst Comment: Historically, political insurgencies often run parallel to or just ahead of militant insurgencies, as political power and influence subverts the government's authority and capability to respond effectively to violence. We saw this most recently in Portland, where violent anarchists were arrested, many of whom committed felonies, and were promptly released after charges were dropped by the Portland District Attorney. - M.B.)

ECONOMIC WARNING

Ron Paul: “Great Crackup” on the horizon

Former Texas Congressman Ron Paul warned that America may soon witness what economist Ludwig von Mises referred to as the “crack-up.” According to his theory, this situation will develop when enough people believe the growing money supply and consequential inflation are caused, not prevented, by central banking. The theory predicts that Americans will begin spending money as soon as they receive it, accelerating hyperinflation, and bringing about another depression. Paul concluded, “Rejection of the dollar’s reserve currency status abroad and the crack-up at home will cause an economic meltdown worse than the Great Depression. Among the problems this will lead to is increased violence as some Americans who believe they are entitled to live off the stolen property of others cut out the government middleman and start stealing from their fellow citizens.” (AC: Ron Paul and many others have issued these warnings since I started following them around 2008. Several years later, I spent some time in Argentina, a country with a long history of fiscal and monetary crises. One morning, I awoke at my hotel and looked outside the window to see a long line of Argentinians outside a bank. My first thought is that another bank run had started and I became worried. It turns out, however, that this was completely normal behavior. It was payday, and a long line had formed just like it always had, with workers trying to cash their checks and spend their money at local markets due to large and often sudden monetary fluctuations. In fact, the places where I stayed didn’t allow booking reservations more than three months out due to these currency swings. As a matter of capital control and enforced demand for the Argentine Peso, the ownership of U.S. Dollars was made illegal. My concern is that, while this is not likely an imminent threat for the U.S., Ron Paul will eventually be correct. I fully expect to see this type of monetary volatility within the next 20 years as Americans and international investors realize that a competitor is taking market share as the world reserve currency. As I’ve pointed out previously, JP Morgan conducted a study that found world reserve currencies enjoy that luxury for roughly 80-100 years, historically for the past 400 years. The Bretton Woods Conference, which created the modern global financial order and gave the U.S. Dollar world reserve status, was in 1944. In 2024, the Dollar will have reigned for 80 years as the world reserve. If the JP Morgan study is accurate, then the USD is likely to be replaced sometime between 2024 and 2044, or roughly 80-100 years. If the U.S. fiscal situation were healthier, then I would be open to seeing the USD last much longer than 80-100 years. Unfortunately, considering the trajectory of the national debt and no feasible or relatively painless way to solve that problem, the USD will be undermined by doubts over its future value and stability. Unless a solution is identified — and the “Great Reset” is one solution to assuage future sovereign debt crises — the USD will find a competitor. Under this scenario, Dr. Paul predicts that Americans are likely to spend money as quickly as possible, just as the Argentinians did, out of fear of continued currency devaluation. Additionally, I also fully expect the Treasury, Securities Exchange Commission, and other regulatory bodies to seriously control the use of cryptocurrencies. Earlier this week, I pointed out that the White House Working Group on Financial Markets insinuated so-called “stablecoins,” or digital tokens that are pegged to the USD, a potential threat to international and domestic monetary stability. Some have pointed out that there’s no real competitor to the USD right now, and that the economic effects of COVID have harmed all potential competitor currencies. A serious competitor would be a stable store of value, a unit of account, a scalable medium of exchange, and, ideally, disinflationary. A cryptocurrency will eventually emerge to meet all these requirements. The U.S. Government and Federal Reserve cannot allow a cryptocurrency to compete with the USD for everyday use, which would lead to runaway inflation or even hyperinflation; yet this is a realistic scenario that would accelerate the collapse of the USD. - S.C.)

LOW INTENSITY CONFLICT INTSUM

Pipeline attacks leave Aspen residents without heat

Law enforcement officials reported vandalism at natural gas pipeline locations yesterday near Aspen, Colorado, which left 3,500 homes and businesses without heat ahead of a snowstorm this week. In three separate instances on Sunday night, Black Hills Energy gas lines were shut off. One of those switches was located inside a building. Police reported that “Earth First!” was written at the site of one gas line that was shut down. (AC: Law enforcement suspects that EarthFirst!, an ecological activist group, was involved. From the descriptions of law enforcement, it appears that the acts of vandalism were conducted by individuals familiar with area gas lines, which denotes pre-operational reconnaissance or surveillance of the target. None of the pipeline switches had security cameras, leaving police with few leads so far. Eco-activist/terrorist groups have a long history of disruption and very good operations security. Much of the OPSEC best practices promoted by antifascist groups today originated from 1990s and early 2000s eco-terrorist groups, which really have mastered the art of OPSEC. Although there was some speculation in eco-fascist channels that this was an act of Accelerationism, I remain doubtful. After the Christmas Day bombing in Nashville, I would suspect that Accelerationists desire more damage and infamy than temporary disruption of natural gas lines. - S.C.)

Anarchists claim autonomous zones are the first step towards government dissolution

This week, anarchist bloggers claimed that the establishment of various autonomous zones in 2020 were the beginning of the end of capitalism and the capitulation of the state. They stated that instead of seeking revolution to seize state power, the zones reject the state's power entirely and begin moving toward its destruction. In conclusion, they called on others to exploit government reaction to the pandemic by establishing more autonomous zones. (AC: It would be easy to dismiss these zones as isolated incidents that simply fizzle out over a period of weeks or months. The goal to establish total autonomy, however, is a long term campaign they commonly liken to a “relay race.” The trend of establishing autonomous zones will likely continue in 2021, with separatists seeking to undermine government authority and legitimacy, as well as tie up government resources. Those establishing these zones seek to goad the government into reacting aggressively, likely seeking an overstep to garner more popular support and a justification for the use of violence. - M.B.) (At this point, these anarchist groups will increasingly face what insurgent groups in Iraq did: a struggle for relevance. 2020 was admittedly a good show, but these movements could begin to lose momentum if they don’t raise the bar of disruption in 2021. - S.C.)

Armed Leftists push members to build physical fitness

Armed Leftist chat room participants shared recommendations on physical fitness and various training protocols to better prepare for potential conflict. They encouraged members to continue honing their firearms skills, but implored others to maintain their physical ability to move, carry weight, and fight. (AC: Physical fitness is an important trait for any fighting force to have, but it is especially true for insurgents. Typically outgunned and outmanned by the government, the long term success of many insurgencies requires an ability to survive hardship and austere environments. Sharing fitness guides and exercise regimens online is an early step towards assuring insurgents will be able to endure a potential protracted struggle against the government. - M.B.)

Far Left groups post recommendations for “tactical” vehicle modifications

Leftists online discussed possible modifications or upgrades to optimize vehicles for "tactical" applications. Run-flat tires, camera systems, floodlights, winches, spare batteries, auxiliary fuel tanks, skid plates, GPS units, shatterproof window films, and radio communications gear were all recommended by participants. (AC: During the riots and unrest in 2020, we observed the inclusion of vehicles into Far Left street level tactics. Caravans and escorts provided cover, shelter, transportation, medical aid, food, and other supplies to those on foot in confrontations with law enforcement. More advanced vehicle load outs could increase the Far Left’s capability to openly confront and outmaneuver generally better equipped police. - M.B.)

Removed the old-school A2 sights from the 20" 1:8 flat top upper, and added flip-up backup sights, and a red dot... realized I need a 3/4" riser.

Daughter dropped her 4x-16x50 scope with a mini-red dot on top of her 20" 1:8 AR.

Actually earlier in the week - saw a link to an Antifa-supporter site, articles on
batons, helmets, gas masks and goggles. and body armor.

Repeat, this is a Antifa supporter site, so much of the content or viewpoint is far left. But the assessments of gear and some discussions of tactics are possibly useful.

Started melting down the 100 lbs of lead that I had stashed to cast into bullets. Trying different coatings and bought a heater for my old Lachmiller lube sizer. Gotta save the copper for SHTF and only use lead for target practice.

Picked up a Henry All Weather.357 and a bunch of various calibers of ammo. Looks like we are going to purchase a medium Harvest Right freeze dryer. 10 week wait, but worth it I think. Can freeze dry for our preps and make some money at the same time as well.

Sighting in my daughter's Christmas scope, my son's flip up backups and red dot, AND MY red dot with flip-up backups this weekend, so trying a couple different projectiles, also... to see what likes what.

Oh, and the lady's got flip-up backups with a red dot also... SHE has to sight in.

Nice, but when they start leaking (especially that brand), you have to scrub that all out. This is the reason I switched to LSD NiMH's.

I do wish I had a case to store C's and D's, but I only have 2 NiMH C's.

Range day on the 1st. Not horrible busy... Nice to be a reloader for many years now, and know the shortage is coming, again, and prepare accordingly.

Found a glitch in this very forum, click the link for page 75, get redirected to page 74, again, and again...

Tumbled all brass from the last 3 range trips+.
Sorted brass by caliber.

Resized, decapped, and sorted by length-checked the .223/5.56, and I have some trimming to do... ~2x as much as not needing a trim.

At least now I have a bunch more .357 Mag. brass I can reload "Full House" 158gr semi-jackets in. The last batch of ".357 Magnum" with regular pistol powders were like .38 SPL loads... WEAK!

Posted a trade in the market for primers vs. some Rifle powder, which I am shorter on rifle powder than I would like to be...

Packaged up 25 Lbs of Jasmine rice (from a 50 Lb bag). Baked the rice in the oven at 200 degrees for 20 min (ensure it is plenty dry & kill any bugs/eggs), then weighed into 1Lb batches and vacuum sealed in Mylar bags, then put in freezer (I'll leave it in there for a couple days just to double up on making sure buggs/eggs are dead). Also heated & vacuum sealed 2 Quarts & 1 Pint of walnuts & 4 Quarts of dehydrated banana slices.
