Default My Next Glock

I have extra cash for Christmas so what should my next Glock be?

I got the 9mm pistols, G26, G19 & G17. So I am thinking 45 ACP.

For ~the same price, don't forget the G34gen3.
https://us.glock.com/en/pistols/g34

Personally, I had a couple of G21SF guns and a G30SF. I found I never carried/used the G21SF models, but still have and carry the G30SF today (occasionally, among others).

My Glock G30 is more accurate than my G21...

Both are great pistols, but one you can carry concealed...

It depends upon what you are using it for.... A G34 would round out your 9mm collection.

The Glock 45s are chunky but diversifying your calibers may be beneficial.

I’d pick the G21SF because I need another full size .45 that isn’t a 1911.

If you plan to carry it, G30.

Start with the 21SF. As much as I like 45, the compacts never appeal to me. 9mm seems to be a better caliber for compacts.

The Glock 21 is the only Glock I’ve ever owned that I’ve sold, well I did trade a Gen 3 19. But that was straight across for a 17 RTF, I’d make that trade any day.

With the 21 it’s the thickness of the slide that always bothered me, just unnecessarily fat even for a Glock. Once I got the G 41 with it’s much thinner slide I sold the 21. Again it’s not the frame size, mine was not a short frame and that was fine for me. But that darn slide is like all these tranies winning beauty contests, just a fat pig.

I like them both. The G30 is easier to conceal if you carry. The G21 fits my large monkey hands better.

Consider the 10mm flavors too.

Ironically, the only two Glocks I own are a 21 and a 17 RTF complete with fish scales and all. Love that 17, still the best grip texture of any Glock to this day.

Anyway, OP, the 21 is indeed a fatty. But honestly it's a joy to shoot (at least for me) especially in a world of small skinny pistols that saturate the market today. Best thing to do is handle them yourself and decide what feels good in the hand to you.

The G30 can be made into the G21 but the G21 cannot be made into a G30 (without a hacksaw, that is). The G30 are naturally CA legal and don’t have to be neutered.

I really love my G30. It fits my had well (I wear size L gloves) and it doesn't shoot like a compact to me. The recoil is very manageable and I'm fairly accurate with it. I have a G20 which is a great gun but feels unnecessarily bulky to me. Just my $.02

I've seen them all but I would certainly say the 21SF as others have already said.

I should have added the G34 to the Poll.

As a Calgunner I should get both the G21 and G30 plus a G34. Thank you my friends

Here is a plan, get the 21SF. If you like it get the 30. Then see if you can get a G34 gen5 MOS, while you wait or search for that get a G20SF to try 10mm. Of you like get 29 for a compact 10

My Glock 21sf is the one Glock that I would never get rid of. 13 rounds in magazines (after mid January 2023 court ruling). Mine shoots very well with very manageable recoil.

I’d say get the 34 which would complete your 9mm collection. But 21SF is a good option.

Eh, who we fooling? You’ll end up with 34, 21sf, 30 and even throw in the odd 36 while you’re at it.

Not much love for the 30SF

Personally, it's been my best performing shooter for GSSF (Glock) matches in the 45ACP caliber, and even verses when I shot my 21SF at the same match.

I just continued to out perform with it so I've basically mothballed my 21SF, because the rules allow me to shoot the 30 where I "could" shoot the 21, but not vice versa.

Anyway.......... that's my take on it. I think it comes down to my being able to get a better grip around the whole thing. The grip being shorter allows me to get under it more than I could otherwise with the 21.

I want to like the 21 for all the reasons already being stated, but performance wise that's what I'm finding to be my best choice.

I have both. I love my 21, I've had it for years and it is so easy to shoot. But, I also love my 30SF. Just take my 21 magazines slap an X grip on it and my big arse hand fits even better on the 30. For concealment in the winter time the 21 is not an issue for me, summertime you don't even know I'm wearing the 30 IWB. Pierce extensions are my friend and I can get my entire hand on the grip while maintaining the shorter profile of the 30 magazines. No worries about the 21 mags printing out the rear when I'm wearing at 4 o'clock.

I've owned a couple of G30s: a G30S, a G30SF and a Gen 4 G30. I've even done the G30SF to G30s conversion using a G30s or G36 slide.

My favorite configuration is the G30S. I've never owned a G21SF, because it is a bit chunky for me. I have two G41s (and MOS and a non-MOS) and they are great guns. FWIW, if it were me, I'd get the G30SF first and think about a slide conversion.

The .22 conversion slide kit (260$ + or-)for ur 19 n 17 if they're gen 3's would let u train for 9c a round. And you could still get another pistol.
