Default Wallet Holster Clarification Please

It's my understanding that wallet holsters like the DeSantis Pocket Shot holster, with the exposed trigger are illegal in CA.

https://ads.midwayusa.com/product/10...t-shot-holster

1. Can anyone confirm and cite that its illegal to possess, or is it legal to have, just becomes illegal when you utilize it with weapon inserted? BTW, I'm not in L.A.

2. Does having CCW have any bearing on the matter?

Thanks Gents

I think the federal law was one of concealment. This one still looks like a gun out of the pocket

In the pocket, it breaks up the outline

From desantis

The Pocket Shot® is our latest way to conceal and rapidly access your small auto. The #110 disguises itself as a wallet but can be brought into action instantly without removing the gun. It's made of black leather, is ambidextrous, and will carry several different 380 and 32 autos. This holster is illegal in California

I don't have the time to pull up the citation at the moment, but the issue in California is that it *might* be a 'camouflaging firearm container' because its capable of being fired without removal.

CCW does not change a thing.

Not able to look it up right now at work but I remember seeing it in the code and IIRC it is specifically banned by name.

Just think of how many lives have been saved because wallet holsters are illegal. The mind boggles...

http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/fa...ctionNum=24710.

Except as provided in Chapter 1 (commencing with Section 17700) of Division 2 of Title 2, any person in this state who manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives, lends, or possesses any wallet gun is punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year or imprisonment pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170.

As used in this part, “generally prohibited weapon” means any of the following:
...
(x) A wallet gun, as prohibited by Section 24710.

As used in this part, “wallet gun” means any firearm mounted or enclosed in a case, resembling a wallet, designed to be or capable of being carried in a pocket or purse, if the firearm may be fired while mounted or enclosed in the case.
Anyhow, the law does not make the wallet holster itself illegal, unless a gun is mounted in it such that the combination becomes a 'wallet gun'.

Answered my question and cited to back it up.
Thank you Skyhawk!
