Default NCPPRC Intro To Long Range Clinic Saturday June 16th

REGISTRATION OPENS TONIGHT AT 6:00 pm PST

The clinic usually fills up VERY fast.

***********************************************

The NCPPRC Long Range Clinic is an introduction to precision long range shooting.

When
Saturday, June 16, 2018.
Check-in is from 7:00-7:30 am. Clinic is 7:30 am – 5:00 pm.

Where
At the Sacramento Valley Shooting Center.
If you’re coming from out of town, see our list of places to stay.

Cost
$125 per shooter. Includes range fees, class room instruction, course material, line coach, drinks, and lunch.
Please note that there are no refunds for cancellations.

Prerequisites
You must be at least 18 years of age.
You must be able to legally own a firearm.
You must be proficient with your rifle at 100 yards.

Required Equipment
Rifle chambered in 6 mm up to .338 caliber. Bolt action or gas gun.
Tactical rifle scope with Mil or MOA ranging reticle (not a simple crosshair nor ballistic reticle) and elevation adjustment turret.
70 rounds of ammunition.
Empty Chamber Indicator Flag (you can pick one up during registration for $1.00).
Eye and ear protection are mandatory.
Rifle Sling.
A backpack or shooting bag to carry all your kit in.
Bipod or pack to shoot from.
Rear rest or sand sock is strongly recommended.
Note taking gear.
Tools to run your rifle and optic.
Sun block.
Elbow pads are recommended.
Dress for the weather, we will shoot rain or shine. Long pants recommended, the ground can get hot.
We will have water available on the firing line and in the target pits.
You may want to bring snacks that you can eat on the go. Lunch will be provided.
Please have your rifle zeroed at 100 yards. All of our drop data is based on a 100 yard zero.
Make sure your gear is mobile as you will walk to the various shooting distances. You must carry your rifle and all gear, so bring only the essentials (no wagons/carts). Practice setup and re-packing of your gear beforehand. Things move fast as we go from one line to the next and you need to move quickly.

Agenda
Your morning will begin with classroom instruction. Topics will include:
◾Introduction to our shooting discipline here at Sac Valley Shooting Center.
◾How to run your rifle and optics.
◾Prone and positional shooting tips and techniques.
◾Data Development – gathering actual data for your rifle and load.
◾If time permits, we will cover rifles, caliber choice, and equipment.
◾Safety Brief.

You will then grab your rifle and gear and head down range in one of our vehicles. You will be assigned to one of two relays. Relay 1 will shoot first and start at the 200 yard line. Relay 2 will head to the target pit area and receive instruction how how to pull and mark targets.

You will shoot from 200 to 1,000 yards. Each shooter will have an experienced coach on the firing line to help with ballistics, wind calls, and getting DOPE out to 1,000 yards or as far as your equipment will allow you to safely shoot. We walk the entire range for all distances, including a return to the target pits from the 1,000 yard line.

Please note that you must follow all safety procedures and be aware at all times. Anyone that violates a safety procedure or cannot get on target will be removed from the clinic.

Registration
Registration will open on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 6:00 pm Pacific time.

Once registration opens, please complete the Online Registration Form

You will receive a response within a few days of your entry request.
Please note that this event is limited to 50 participants.

Join our online forum for up-to-date information and to ask any questions you may have.

I was on there and filled out the form. I remember distinctly finishing the process and getting out of the system at 6:04. But I've not received any e-mail yet? Maybe I missed the cutoff? How do I find out? I'm also enough dyslexic that now I'm also sweating 'maybe I miskeyed my e-mail address'?

I also remember last year they grouped folks based on the caliber rifle they're shooting. There was large 308 group, some 6.5 folks, etc.. So maybe they've not contacted everyone yet?

I was pretty on this too. I was in there the moment registration opened. I'm going to be fairly bummed if I missed out on this. Last year I shot an AR with some nice 77Gr Sierra TMK's for the mid-range clinic the first day. But I missed most of the second day LR clinic after I got a live 338LM round that would not fire, jammed in the chamber of my rifle. For the curious, that story is the subject of a whole other CG thread. So I missed like eighty percent of that (it was two days last year) second day LR clinic. While that falls under the category of 's*** do happen', that was pretty disappointing.

In my best 'Crusty the Clown' voice. . . .'ahhhhhh crap.'

Dude if you are talking about first day mid range second day long range you are talking about a different clinic. Both are very good though.

To all the shooters coming to the clinic this weekend:

The forecast is showing 80 degrees for Saturday with winds from 5-9 mph. Because of the high heat we'll be experiencing from now until then, please take steps to start getting and staying properly hydrated for this weekend. Proper hydration starts some days ahead, not the day-of. Remember that laying on the hot gravel increases the temperature above ambient at ground level, so proper hydration is very important for the weekend. Don't let your weekend be ruined by not getting and staying hydrated beforehand.

Also keep in mind that light-colored outer layers reflect heat and dark colors retain heat and can make things worse.

It will suck if we have to pull you off the line because you are experiencing a heat-related illness that could have been prevented. Plan ahead so you can have an awesome weekend of shooting.

See you Saturday!

Yep, 100 rounds should be plenty adequate.

Glad you guys enjoyed the clinic.

General registration for the Saturday July 7 Practice Session opens Friday June 29, 2018 @ 5:00 PM · Registration closes on: July 06, 2018 @ 7:00 PM

Our practices fill up pretty quick, so you'll want to get on it close to when it opens next Friday night.

Here's the link to the forum where the practice session is posted:
http://forum.ncpprc.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=8850

If you want to try your hand in a match (which I would highly recommend, btw), here is the link to the match post as well:
http://forum.ncpprc.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=8867
Registration opens on: July 01, 2018 @ 6:00 PM · Registration closes on: July 06, 2018 @ 6:00 PM
This course of fire is our most popular, so it will fill up fast as well.

Looking forward to seeing you on the line!

Yes, the NCPPRC forum is active. We get hit by a LOT of spammers and bots, so it is possible that you may have been inadvertently deleted. Try to join again, and PM me your chosen user name for the forum. I'll forward it to the team working the forum.
