Sorry
He said check the box, I still feel the idea doesn't apply to us as it has to do with encouraging people to do a PPT. He says the PPT is to be recorded in your AD even if the buyer fails the NICS which we already do, I see in a free state the firearm leaves minutes later so I have the feeling dealers are not logging them into the AD book.. I am unaware of what other states do with PPT but it felt like this is heading to a California type process minus the 10 day wait at a federal level...So no real pertaining information...Just check the box.. |

In NV as a dealer if it walks in the door and I have anything to do with it it goes in the book and the PPT box on the 4473 gets marked. All PPT in NV get a records check even if they have a CCW. Which is stupid because if it’s a dealer sale with CCW there is no check, fill out the 4473 and walk out.

It's because... ... NV dealer sale = NICS check ... NV PPT = NV DPS check Valid NV CCW permit is only an exemption to the NICS check and not the NV DPS check, because there is no exemption for NV CCW permit holders to the NV "universal background check" laws. |

The "PPT" box was added to the 4473 to help auditors understand why there was a 4473, but no bound book entry. ATF has been suggesting that "PPTs" outside of California, go to a licensee so they can perform a NICS. This was never/rarely an issue in California, because we always/normally had the firearm overnight and were required to log them in our bound book.
During my last 2 audits, 4 inspectors advised we check the box for PPT's, but didn't ding us for missing it, or even document advising us to. It seems to be a non-issue, but a good practice. |
