CNC Programmer

Ability to setup, program, operate and troubleshoot CNC lathes and mills without assistance. Programs mills and lathes including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving out programs. Must be self-sufficient.

Responsibilities:

Assists with the development of concepts, ideas, and methods for solving milling/machining problems.
Directs, guides, and instructs other machinists in daily operations along with acting as a lead and advisor
Prepares the required schedule
Orders and expedites materials needed
Utilizes and interprets engineering drawings from sketches, graphic illustrations or verbal/written correspondence to plan sequence of operations
Set-up and operate a multi-axis 3,4, and 5-axis CNC mills or lathes
Technical/Functional skills: Must pass FBI/DOJ background check.
Programs extremely close tolerance parts using Mastercam and HyperMill software.
Associate's degree, technical/trade school training or equivalent and 5 or more years related experience
Additional experience may be substituted for formal education
Possess a high degree of initiative and extensive knowledge of machining equipment including ability to use judgment and safe practices
Possess the skills to maintain the flow of work within the unit using independent judgment in solving complex or unusual problems
Possess strong interpersonal skills and written communication skills to interface with employees, management and customers/outside representatives
Possesses good interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills to interface with various levels of employees while performing machinist functions
Knowledge of basic computer skills
Ability to design tooling aids to assist in machine setups utilizing numerous shop equipment
Ability to perform complex set-up of machined parts with no direction
Ability to instruct and train machinist staff
Ability to work both independently and lead in a team environment is essential
Ability to work extended hours as required
