Default CGSSA On Tartget Shoot 3/13/20

Greetings all. I am pleased to announce that the CGSSA On Target shoot is now back to abnormal with all the usual rapid fire privileges as before!

OK GANG we now have a theme for the shoot! SOVIET WEAPONRY!!!!
Please bring your AK's, AKM'S and Makerov's HOWEVER there is a new rule at On Targer (which I'm not sure we will be bound by - ALL steel cases/steel core ammo MUST be shot at 25 yards - not any shorter

As a result of changes in the insurance we enjoyed through CGSSA, we have been forced to seek and obtain our own insurance for the shoot. In order to rapid fire etc. the range requires us to have our own 2 million dollar policy. CGSSA now requires each shoot to obtain their own insurance if their local range requires it. SO.....

In order to maintain the FANTASTIC shoot we have come to know and enjoy, I have bought and paid for our 2 million dollar policy MYSELF.

That means, our shoot is now sponsored by THE LAW OFFICE OF DAVID J. SALVIN. Specializing in criminal and firearms law as well as estate planning and probate work. (949)305-6400 Please tell your friends about us.

Also, we will be seeking DONATIONS now in the amount of $3.00 per shooter per event to help offset the cost of the insurance. Of course we will continue to provide targets and plenty of ammo for the rare, unusual and historical firearms we bring to you each month.

Please review the following details pertaining to the meet:
Date: 3/13-20
Time: 6:30 to 8:30 (dinner to follow)

Price: New price is now $15.00 for the shoot for ALL attendees, both member and non-member.

Pistols - Relaxed one round per second rule. Double taps OK. You break it, you bought it for hangers and fixtures.

Rifles - rifle permit REQUIRED (pistol calibers are exempt), can be had by attending a rifle permit class on Sunday mornings @ 9AM, anything less than 338 Lapua is good to go. . . and yes, ARs/AKs are welcome!

If you want/need a rifle class - chime in and let me know and I will try to get one for us

Shotguns and rifles- minimum distance is 25-yard line (all the way back) , and ONLY slugs sold at the range will be allowed for use.

Brass Recovery (since there seems to be confusion) - Let the staff know you are recovering your own brass, and clean up your area before you start so you do not mistakenly pick up other people's brass.

REMINDER: - Please police after yourselves at the range. On Target has been gracious enough to grant several concessions to make this event a success month after month. We should return the courtesy when utilizing their facilities, and take responsibility for our actions. . . after all, we do want to portray Calgunners as responsible gun owners, right? If we find that you hit a hanger, we will make sure the staff is aware. . . NO EXCEPTIONS!

No particular theme (as of yet). Let's see who's coming and what they want us to bring.

Wanted to ask a few questions regarding the event.

What’s the format of the event? Is it just a free for all shoot or is it structured?

Is the whole range being rented? Or it is a small section for us to all share lanes?

How many rounds is recommended?

Any other recommended gear?

Are there ever pistol red dots to try?

Would my Gen 5 G17 (“fanciest” gun I own lol) spark interest with the group to try out?

Thanks, and looking forward to hopefully being a regular member of these events!!

Hello there. Thanks for checking in. The deal is that we get one entire bay of On Target to ourselves. (10 lanes- 25 yard max). So the shoot is static in the booths, however, we can double tap and rapid fire and shoot rifle, pistol and shotgun (slugs only).
Bring whatever guns you want (and post up on the board here for any you've always wanted to try. Maybe someone else has it and will bring it.
Bring as much ammo as you want to shoot. Keep in mind that without the 1 round a second rule, you WILL go through more ammo than your normal range trip.

We generally bring rare and unique, historic or movie-famous guns for all to try. This often includes belt fed light machine guns (semi-auto of course). Often we will have theme nights like CCW guns, or movie guns or WWII night or sub machine gun night etc. to highlight certain guns our members have an interest in shooting.

Glocks don't normally stop the show around our place, but we ALL love ALL kinds of guns and never turn down a chance to shoot someone's toys or to allow anyone else to shoot ours. Yes, we have many pistols and sub guns with red dot and reflex sights to try. Post up what you'd like to see.

We have several NRA certified instructors on hand to teach newcomers to the sport or to give more intermediate and advanced shooting help for those interested in IDPA or combat shooting techniques.

The event is 6:30 to 8:30 and after all of that fun, we usually head out to sushi at a local place and socialize and network for a few more hours.

Please feel free to PM me for more details or q's.

Well, we just had WWII night a few months ago and even had the BAR last month. I do have an original (registered) HK93 (5.56) if you want to try out the g3/ptr type rifle. I will bring that for you.

UPDATE: The HK will have to wait for next month. This month is RUSSIAN MADNESS! See below for the a partial list of the awesome Russian and Soviet weapons we will have to play with!!!

I'll have one guest so far (please add), and working on possibly an outing for a friend and his family!

As for WWII, Jiraiya… what's your preference? Rifle? Pistol? Let us know, as I'm sure we can potentially accommodate it.

Love things like the MP40, Webley revolver, G43, etc. I'm just a huge fan of most firearms from that era haha.

Oh, they allow steel core? I'll see if I can get some at LAX Ammo this weekend. I'll also be bringing a guest with me.

Don't worry - at the indoor range, there are huge fans directly behind us blowing all the smoke and powder down range so the risk of air born contamination is relatively low.

Did anyone happen to pick up a Sig Sauer red dot sight cover last time out? Went to clean my Sig and it wasn't on the pistol. Thanks!
