The issue is a utility bill.

Wait.

They need you to get on your parents’ utility bill and then get a notarized statement from your parents that you live there? And then, M&D have to prove they own the property which has their names on the bill?

What’s the point of the utility bill? If you’re on the bill, why do you need M&D’s statement....if you have M&Ds’ statement, why do you need the bill?

He has to prove he lives there and has to prove they own the property.
They can't just take his word that he lives there and that they are indeed the owners.

Yeah, and the note from M&D does that. And, all property owners are, indeed, (wait for it.....),

“in deed”.

Since you have the same last name, getting your name added to a utility bill should just be a quick simple phone call.

I agree with flying shooter. I had a similar situation as I live with my parents and needed their property tax bill as well as a utility bill in my name.

In regards to the utility bill, my dad called and I spoke to the utility company and got my name added. Took 2-3 min, fairly painless.

The parents can add his name to the utility bill. It's what I did for the GF a few years ago. Just takes a call to SWG.

Correct, that is the easy part of it.

He may have a issue when he moves if he is not on a utility bill at the time of renewal.

You know what? I just remembered that the gas bill is in my dad's name. He & I share the same first name as well I wouldn't know if the lack of suffix on the bill would be a problem.
If so, I'll see if I can be added to the bill. I'm sure I'm going to get: "Why are you getting a CCW permit??".

I moved in with my wife into her house when we got married. She added me to the Edison bill over the phone just so that my name would show up on the statement. Also had to type up a short statement saying that she owns the home and i live there with her but i am not on the deed. That statement had to be notarized as an "acknowledgement" of the statement by the Notary Public. Lastly i had to have a copy of her property taxes. ALL ARE NEEDED.

Quick couple of Questions for those of you who have swapped a pistol on your renewal.

1. First, when you qualify, you only qualify with the NEW pistol, not the ones already on your permit, correct?

2. On the yellow card, do you list ALL three pistols or only the NEW pistol?

1. Only the new pistol.

2. I think only the new one, but call Sarah and ask her.

Calls are causing a back-up and email provides a paper trail for both party's.

During the renewal process, do they call your employer? I want to know so that I can alert my employer about the phone call...

More paperwork to fill out, questions about those questions & what you already filled out, why a ccw?, fingerprints, picture taken, pay. Probably around 25-40mins in total.

I don't have much to add to that. Just have your paperwork and money orders in order. If you were divorced and are a female using a name other than your birth name bring that paperwork, my GF ran into that but it was no big deal.

A decent good cause based on state laws letting criminals out early and such, they seem to prefer something like that rather than just self defense.

The things you read on facebook: this is what I was told during our CCW prep class at apple valley gun club. It's good for all of california HOWEVER I have been told at the gun club I am in that if you do enter the bay area and or Los angeles county and you get pulled over be prepared that Leo's there will probably take your gun away and you will have to hire an attorney to get it back. In those areas they do not want law abiding citizens to have a CCW and or not use to citizens having them.

Supposedly that is what is being taught at a CCW prep class at AVG.

Your ID, maybe some water and a snack.
Do NOT take your firearm into the renewal class!!!!
USPS money orders only.

Where is your class?

Have you been there before?

My class was there (normally do it at HQ) and parking is a PITA.
Arrive early!

That depends on where in rancho Cucamonga his class is.

They do it at two different locations.

Haven't been before but good to know! I was under the impression that the class had to be done before paperwork turned in. Mine expires on 6/15 but I'm not adding any new guns.

Yep Rancho Council Chambers too. Is the parking lot east of the PD viable or by the court house? Do you need to pay for parking?

That's a good place to park. There's no cost for parking.
