Default Check your mags, they could be dangerous!

My AK drum from Lanbo's was delivered today and I just about died laughing at that Prop 65 sticker

Oh jeez that's funny. . Gotta stay compliant!

In all fairness when trying to avoid prosecution of the law California will find ANYTHING against gun owners. Good catch on the vendor...just in case.

You do realize your drum mag can cause severe lead poisoning to others, don't you?

Perhaps under that official California warning they could also print another establish truths:

WARNING! The air you breath, the water you drink, and the food you eat may cause cancer!

In a brownells order, only the glock magazines cause cancer.

Only if you eat them or inject them. Chinese paint is much worse.

They cause reproductive harm because glock kaboom kills or disfigures the glock users only girlfriend. Obviously the same is not true for the users of other manufacturers so they do not need such a warning.

Brownells sent us a letter requesting that we add the prop 65 warning to all of our products. We were already in the process.
It's pretty ridiculous. With 800+ chemicals and elements on their list, virtually everything including the basic elements of life, can cause cancer.

Here is a list of possible cancer drugs:

https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/abo...er-drugs/drugs

Recommend obtaining some - grinding some up and dissolving in water - dipping mags in this solution prior to each range trip or usage - repeat over the course treatment which would be weekly for 3 months, quarterly for 6 months, then annually for life of the mags or until your death from cancer

I like how there's a question mark after pmag. As if they're asking you... Why not just buy more glock mags instead?

Are the OEM Glock mags far better? I only had 10rd glock factory magazines until freedom week and I grabbed up a bunch of pmag 17 rounders. Is there really a difference?

Not sure about that, but I’d be willing to bet dollars to donuts that the unopened packages of Prop 65 stickers come with Prop 65 stickers attached.

The prop 65 warning on these magazines are likely tied to the grease they come packaged in. The romanian AK drum magazine comes saturated in some type cosmoline-esque preservative while the phosphate magazines come in oiled packages. These oils are likely highly carcinogenic and warrant the warnings.

LOL no. I mean, the oils may or may not be bad for you, I don't know, but that has nothing to do with the reason for the warning.

I got a checkbook today from my bank. It had a Prop 65 warning.

There is a difference--Glock has steel feed lips, PMAGs don't. It doesn't matter. The all-polymer construction of the PMAG body is extremely reliable and durable.

In the last year, the office building our company is in put up a sign in the lobby windows basically saying that the building is going to give you cancer. Also, Home Depot and Lowe's now have Prop 65 warnings on their lumber, cause apparently trees give you cancer.

Yes, absolutely - a 70% difference.

Yes, absolutely - a 70% difference.
We had to have Prop 65 window/door stickers on our salons entry doors or with in a few inches of the door at approx. eye level back in the middle to late 80's as mandated by the Dept. of Consumer Affairs.

Other state/county and city agencies had their posting requirements also.

The prop 65 thing is out of control. I ordered some camo clothes for my 7 year old from Academy Sports. The order was canceled due to Academy not being "65 compliant." Freakin stupid...

It’s just one of those things that is thrown in our faces so much it doesn’t make sense. If it was only on a select few items that actually had the potential to be harmless we may take it more seriously. Seeing it on literally everything here in CA makes it so it’s just another one of those advertisements that we don’t even process consciously. Kind of defeats the purpose I would say.

Prop 65 came into being in 1986. In August 2016, OEHHA adopted new regulations, effective on August 30, 2018, which change the information required in Proposition 65 warnings. this required virtually everything sold in CA, including imported through the Internet, to carry disclosures.

Under the new list, the following things were added as possibly containing, or having come into contact with, carcinogenic materials during their manufacture.

Many organic, natural foods (carrots) carry sufficient trace elements of lead in natural soils to place them on the list.

A short sample:
Tools
California requires the following notice:

WARNING: Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling, and other construction activities contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.

Electrical Cords
California requires the following notice:

WARNING: The wires of this product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling.

Motor Vehicles
California requires the following notice:

WARNING: Motor vehicles contain fuel, oils and fluids, battery posts, terminals and related accessories which contain lead and lead compounds and other chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer,

Alcoholic Beverages, Including, Without Limitation, Beer, Malt, Beverages, Wine, and Distilled Spirits
California requires the following notice:

WARNING: Drinking Distilled Spirits, Beer, Coolers, Wine and Other Alcoholic Beverages May Increase Cancer Risk, and, During Pregnancy, Can Cause Birth Defects.

Coffee and Some Roasted Nuts, Baked Goods and Snack Foods
California requires the following notice:

WARNING: Chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm, including acrylamide, are present in coffee and some roasted nuts, baked goods and snack foods such as chips.

Your checkbook cover is manufactured with di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) which is a human carcinogen and warrants the warning. Every time you touch your checkbook, you touch the chemical. It gets on your skin.

Yes, the grease that magazines come packed in, ESPECIALLY from countries that the Romanian drum mag in this thread come from, are carcinogenic.

If the magazine was simply a cardboard box containing unlubricated steel, there would be no inclusion of a Prop 65 warning.

Panda Express has a prop 65 warning on the door.

I had to buy a new garden hose a while ago and I saw one on Amazon that had a "this does not contain lead" notice next to a prop 65 notice. The review section was full of confused people who weren't sure if it was safe, and at least one person (not sarcastically as far as I could tell) thanking California for protecting us all by requiring these warnings. Some people are actually buying products based on whether they have a prop 65 warning.
