Default How do you choose your preferred projectiles?

Tons of brands, tons of weights, tons of "differentiating features".

How does someone new to this world determine which projectiles/brands/sizes/etc will be best/appropriate/function? I'm sure there is a dummy guide out there that I'm missing. Or is everyone just buying the cheapest bulk they can find?

I check the reloading manuals and the inline forums for starting suggestions, buy a small box of potentials, work up some loads and see what works best.

Pick an objective: Targets, hunting, plinking, whatever.

Are there any caveats to your using bullets: non-lead necessary? No FMJ? No uncoated lead bullets? Need TMJ?

Once you have an objective and know your caveats, decide on what's more important: performance, cost, availability

Once you decide whats most important, decide on what's next most important.
