Default Any of you buy components @ Angeles?

Hey all,

Do any of you buy primers and powder at the shop up at Angeles range?

How are their prices?

I walked in there once before I started reloading. Now that every online store is charging tax, I am thinking of buying local.

Both price and selection are good. They open only from Friday to Sunday.

Thanks. Gonna check them out this weekend. Will probably stock up on Federal primers so I can get the rebate and some powder. Running low on both.

A lot of times mail order will beat local shops even with the hazmat and shipping.......and sometimes mailorder houses will have sales with free shipping and or free hazmat. Check powder Valley Inc and Graf's.

Mail order is still cheaper for qty.
Brownells does not charge CA tax yet. Gotta watch daily for discounts.

I use to buy box of primers or.box of bullets to try.
Bought all my cleaning rods and supplies there.
Use too.
I shoot on Tuesdays and they are closed now.

Since I am in Santa Barbara, Angeles is the closest to me with reloading components in quantity. I shop at all 3, Angeles, OC Reload and Phillips. I find Phillips is generally cheaper but its another 45 minutes of driving on non-fun roads, so to me only worth it if I really need a large quantity of something. I go to Angeles down the 210 and then keep going up the hill and down the backside to Little Tujunga Canyon to the 14 and home, get some fun driving in while re-stocking. Wife goes to Disney about once a month and I will occasionally give her a shopping list for OC Reload.

I can usually do better online but I like looking around at what else I didn't know I needed. And the price difference between online and those 3 stores is not worth it to me, when i can also enjoy a day on the road with my wife, preferably on 2 wheels but bullets are too much weight when i buy in quantity so its the car.

+1 Phillips Wholesale. Was there Saturday in fact. If you want to have a local reloading store option, support local stores.

Honestly the prices are not the greatest. Only reason you buy from Angeles or other brick and mortar business is instant possession or need something in a pinch. So many free shipping, discount for quantity (which as a reloader is what you should mostly buy) and selection options out there for online you should stock up when you can.

Angeles is great because you can stop buy while you leave the range trip but dont expect savings. Put it this way, most 1lb powders are $30+, online it's like 23 to 25. Price difference when it comes to 8lb powders is the equivalent of 1 hazmat fee, which if you just buy one more 8lb jug you just saved about $50 over buying it at a shop. Bullets are going to be cheaper online.

Another thing about Phillips is he keeps a cart loaded with misc.(some used) reloading supplies at a great discount but never know what he will have in it. These will be cash only sales so no credit cards.

Not sure where you live, OP, but Camarillo Gun Store has reloading components at decent prices. I was just comparing a selection of primers and powders from there vs Grafs vs Powder Valley vs Midsouth and found my cart totals to be within $8 of each other! I ended up getting everything I needed from CGS...except the real Black. They don't stock that.

(BTW...the price tags there are OTD)

I usually shop at Phillips, but Miwall at the Costa Mesa gun show is even cheaper.

Hey all. So I did some shooting this morning. Not at Angeles but down the street so I stopped by their reloading store. Was impressed by their selection of components and equipment. Lots of odds and ends. However, wasn't impressed by their prices. I don't mind paying a little more but $39 bucks for 1000 Federal primers? I asked if I bought 10k if they give a discount. Nope. Titegroup was $28 per pound. I can find it under $20 online. Needless to say, didn't buy anything. I can say that I now know where to go if I need something in a pinch, which is nice.

I ended up placing an order at Outdoorlimited. They don't charge tax!!!

Brownells if you want the best prices/selection and Phillips if you want the best local prices and need the components same day.
