A buddy got this in a lot of old military equipment and none of us can figure out what it is. Guesses guys?

Also not sure what era this 'surplus' is from. A warning printed in English and German? We can presume it is not WW1 or WW2. And ISO type hazard symbols? Does a soldier really need a 'do not build a campfire in this pisser' symbol?

Hmmmm. I'm not sure we have gotten to the bottom of this mystery yet.
